  • A fix for your dampner problems meantime till something better comes along is to wrap insulating tape around the cente of the spindle untill it is a sliding fit through the middle of the main rotor hub.

What this does is limit the travel of the spindle to prevent them from over compressing the Dampners, as it acts as a see-saw in the middle.
( BTW It's easier to remove small bits untill you get the fit so wrap accordingly)

Exactly what I've done on mine, I have a whole stockpile of 500 dampers here that I was ready to use until I did the mod .

      • The credit goes to raptorheli2 for putting me on to this..(apparently the MA guys did this years ago) suffice to say the way I fly it didn't even get out the door before I did it.

            • Hi

Are you sure your head speed hasn't dropped, nodding is nearly always headspeed related, the machine has to have a resonable head speed to get above the nodding point.

              Cheers

Why do you have a skid rubber on your 500 spindle?

                • it is not a skid rubber, it is electrical tape to stop nodding from worn dampers.

                  • Thanks guys, Ill give it a go tomorrow, Ill get the spindle out and start wrapping.

and Bob I'm pretty sure its not headspeed, as I said at the begining I switched up into idle and the head speed was pretty high and it was still nodding although just faster.

Ill give the mod a try in the morning and let you know how I get on.

                      • ok update on my wobble.

Wrapped the spindle as suggested and I also swapped the dampners about in normal with a reasonable headspeed the wobble had all but gone. However when I flicked it into idleup the wobble came back again.

So I ran 3 sets of batteries through it and this was a consistent result, a slight nodding showing only at time, such as fairly fast approaches at the went when accelerating up to get back to a hover it showed then, and as I said before when in idleup the faster headspeed sets it off. Now I'm summising that this would point to the damnpers being the definate problem, so I ll get some ordered up. Im hopinq this will sort it out.

if anyones got any other thoughts please let me know

                        • that doesn't sound like a damper problem, you have other problems there imo.

                          cheers

                          • I think nodding can be too tight or too loose blades grips also?
do you have a "Leebert style" swashplate?
