  • I for one appreciate that all the tests people are running will save me money in the long run as it will hopefully point me in the right direction of which batteries are going to suit my needs the best rather than buying batteries that may end up unsuitable.

And to be honest if anyone can get given anything then good luck to them, and even more luck to em if they use those gifts to help the rest of us out keep up the good work.
    All the best
    Tony.

      • it all comes down to the written word, it's all too easy to tap something in and have someone read it in a way that it wasn't written.....next thing you have a bunfight.

                  • Another couple of BEC's from a company stateside, one sport & one HV. Just posting to give people some choice. http://www.dimensionengineering.com/

If you look at the installation guides it also gives you a table of usable servos for varying types plus some other info you may find interesting.

                    • Hi guys

A couple of more questions on the 500 build...

I'm using HS5245MG cyclic servos - Do I use the rubber mounts and eylets when installing the servos?

Also, when mounting the pushrod rings on the boom, do you just use wedges of cable ties to secure them as in the manual? How did you mount yours?

                      Thanks
                      Cheers, Lee.

                      • I'd use the rubbers but not the eyelets.

I've been using their VHV BECs for some time now and they seem excellent. Small, light, switchable voltage and you can run two in parallel for extra current and some redundancy if you're a pessimist like me.
I've also been running Spektrum in 600bladed flybarless models on the Medusa 3.5amp 5volt BEC which you can get from Aurorra.

The BECs I've had trouble with are the Kontronic BEC30 (it's rubbish), and the UBEC (had one explode).

Hmmm... just been off fitting servos and can't get the rubbers and the spacers that are supplied with the kit in together as the kit screws aren't long enough. The kit screws and spacers fit ok but the servos can move around (until you tighten them down).

Any ideas on the best way forward?

                              Thanks

                              • Lee, I don't think I used the rubber mounts on the HiTecs, Ash would know as he has it right now, but the manual suggested not to and I've never used them on a 450.
