I use this to help with the soldering Soldering Tool 56205208
It makes a massive difference and saves loads of time.
    Well worth 20 quid IMO.

You can tell by the chamfer on the bullets whether they push in from the back or front. I refuse to use the front fitting ones, they're useless.

I get my EC5s from modelaccessories.co.uk , he also sells on eBay.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

How are you trying to push them in, Dan? By hand or with a screw driver? The only way to get these in is by pushing them in downwards from behind with a screwdriver on the edge of the bullet on a flat surface (bit of a mouthful!) I'd ring Raj @ align-trex and see what he says. I actually use the HobbyKing ones and they're awesome! They go together first time and are solid. I have some spares if you want me to send you some to get you going, just let me know

The hobbyking ones are great as mentioned - just like the original eflite ones. Hopefully they'll start stocking them in the UK warehouse too.

+1 on hobbyking, I never used any EC5 before I converted all my 6s packs last month, my soldering is shocking but managed fine. Pushed them in with a screwdriver from behind.

+1 on Hobbyking also. I order them in bulk so have a nice box of them. Like dani_r said, let me know and I'll send you a couple if you're stuck

                +1 to HK ones

I have used EC5s from FL, ebay and HK. The trick is to put the Male into the Female or visa versa so that the back of the EC5 is protecting the connection end. Stand it with the back on a solid surface, then use a small flat end screwdriver and small hammer to tap the connector into the EC5. Works every time no matter WHICH EC5s are used.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

Right.......it would appear that in my eagerness to get the 500 flying I was being a plank. Woke up this morning and tried again. Fed wire through first, soldered then pushed in through the front. Click. Worked a treat.

Seems I was the issue and NOT the EC5's! Lol.

Yeah as mentioned, that's the technique for the ones you bought.

Theres nothing wrong with them really, except if you are using very thick awg in which case eflite/hk style are far better due to a bigger cup.

Glad you got it sorted In fairness to you, the majority of EC5s are pressed in from the back. I would have probably ruined the connector trying to force it in from behind!

                          Very strange!
The ones I got from play gadgets on ebay and the ones (that are same ones ) that Sams kindly gave to me are pushing from the back.

Glad you sort it now Dan.

I had some that pushed in from the front. They were quantums. Very tight fit when you connected the battery, so much so it made my thumbs sore trying to disconnect them after flights, i switch to ebay ones that pushed in from the back and they are just right.

This is a bit confusing as it seems a lottery when you order Quantum EC5 . I ordered some Quantums from F/L and they are fine maybe a little tighter than E Flite ones but ok . I just use a 1.5 mm hex driver and push them in until they click job done . I will be a bit wary after this thread & probably use genuine E Flite from now on . Rob

Just use the ones off ebay, they are fine. 12 quid for 10 pairs, cant sniff at that.
