I have flown with just glow rope quite a few times (fast circuits, inverted hovering), that was before the night blades arrived. If feels OK with just the glow rope.

      Hi

I got all excited and rigged one of my 600N's up for a night fly last night after work to try out the new Align 600 Night blades, happy to report they worked really well.
They look good in the air with good visability of the lights and they flew well to, I was a little concerned about the weight of the blades as they felt really light in the hand but the auto reserve is actually not too bad.
They certainly have very fast cyclic and collective response, I love it:-) but aren't any where near as loadie as the MS night blades.
I can feel another night flying session coming on soon.

      Cheers

How are you guys attaching the glow rope on to the canopy? I have teh boom and skids covered with one piece of rope, the second piece is destined for the canopy, did you drill / glue it on there or something?
        Regards,

mine is just simply taped with clear sticky tape ala blue peter if i decide to do my 600E then i will either superglue it, or drill the canopy and use some clear cable ties.

I use a hot glue gun.

When we tried night flying last year, we wrapped a light rope around a hula-hoop (like the ones wiggle around their waists) and laid it on the floor for take off and landing - means you can see where the ground is when you need it.

Surelight kit from TESCO Extra works great, £19 for an inverter that'll power 4 glow ropes ( comes complete with 2 x 1.5 metre), decase it and power it of the Rx, coupled with MS Mains and tails ( ys seems to eat the drag factor of the mains!!) Makes for some seriously enjoyable flying time, its the first year i have looked forward to it getting dark!!!

Hoping to get my Align Nighties soon though!!

Using the link below, works a treat for 450 sized helis. You get 2x 1.5m wire and a tiny inverter that you can power from main lipo or a seperate one.

pics and video of the Align night blades : http://www.trextuning.com/blog/?p=94

This is the unofficial fix to the unofficial problem that people were unable to see their T-Rex 600 at night

I tried the DD luminous tail blades tonight. They work pretty well at close range, but are a bit dim to see clearly a long way off. Certainly a usefull addition though. The biggest downside is the UV led which "charges" them as it's quite bright and can dazzle a bit.

They come with a 150ohm series resistor for 12volt use. I replaced this with a 75ohm so I could run off the two cell lipo that powers the light ropes. Excuse the dodgy photo.
