  • CY gyro recall

    saw this on rumpryder

Here is a message from Curtis,

"We need all the Solid Gs presently on the market sent back to us for cleaning. We have found that the final cleaning step in the manufacturing process was not done properly. The result is some units can have small elements of solder loose inside the case that can short components causing it to fail. The cleaning process is relatively quick and easy but we want to do it in house to make sure it is done completely. Although this “cleaning” may sound minor we recommend not flying the Solid G again until it has been cleaned.

We apologize for this inconvenience. For any questions please contact us at the address below

The thing for me is that its good to see that CY is taking this very seriously.

I hope they give those that have been checked over a new seal or something to certify that they have been re-checked by CY and 100% ok. Imagine you goto sell it in 12mths for the next latest gadget, how does a new buyer know that your gyro has been re-checked by CY and that you didn't just take a wing and a prayer on the recall.

I say this as I noticed one pilot already stating that he'd take this risk....for me I wouldn't for the sake of a little trouble. Cost alot more in the long run potentially.
    Cheers
    Stuart
