Turnigy motor continuity between poles...

Guys,

I have the turnigy 2215h from hobbyking. It runs (Or ran) Just fine, but my ESC has gone pop.

The motor seems to have continuity between all 3 poles (which i dont think it should, should it?)

I remmeber seeing a video about it a while back; But mine has continuity even when its not installed in the heli and doesnt have any screws in.

It's had less than 1 flight. Is the motor goosed from the factory or am i missing something?

you mean between all 3 wires? that's normal...

you shouldn't have continuity between the wires and the motor. Easiest place to measure is the shaft. Be sure not to be touching the bare multimeter pins as your body will complete the circuit otherwise and distort the result.

Hi below are the two common types of motor connection Delta(L/H pic) & Star(R/H pic) Outrunner motors are connected in Delta format as you can see the 3 connections (N1,N2,N3) are conected together through the motor coils. By using a multimeter set to Ohms you should get a resistance reading across any 2 of the motor wires. If you take the reading across red / yellow, red / blue, yellow / blue all 3 readings should be approximatly the same.
At no time should you get a reading from red, yellow or blue to the motor case or shaft

Now according to the europeans you arent allowed to use red, yellow, blue any more its supposed to be Brown, Black, Grey..... Fcuk knows why all that means is they connect phase to neutrals and try and kill people...

I agree Steve when I started it was red, yellow & blue, I find brown, black & grey confusing.
The reason I said red, yellow, blue is a lot of the motor connector heat shrink used for indication are those colours.
