To clone or not imho do'nt go there!! these cheap copys are deadly!!!
And how do you work that out? The battery came loose and through the canopy off. He even says that was the issue in the comments. Looking at the size of lipo and the battery strap I'd say that the strap wasn't tight around the pack. I see this all the time, people flying electrics with no strap around the battery and the only thing holding it on is a bit of velcro.

Hi,
I think the title of the thread is extremely misleading! it gives completely the wrong impression to the casual browser who may be thinking about getting into the hobby but is on a tight budget.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the heli, clone or not, if fact IMHO it actually shows that this particular clone 500 flies extremely well in the right hands. also I note that those are the same blades I use the cheapy composite GF blades and bears up that contrary to myth they again do fly well and WILL fly reasonably hard.
the title thread ought to be 'remember to secure your cells!'
Nothing wrong with the HK500GT pro, i flew 3Djims & it was a very smooth flying heli. Stick a Trex canopy on it & it looks identical. Infact if i happen to get another 450 i will get the 450GT pro (but with belt) as it is cheaper than buying just the very few bits i need for my Trex 450S. I'm also thinking of trying out a HK250GT & just use the electronics from my Gaui to see how it compares. All i'd need is a 3s lipo.

hi,
strangely this is the one HK model that i would advise to avoid, the Align 250's are frankly trouble at the best of times, the HK version is really not good, and you will end up spending more than the helis worth to get it flyable. I'm still battling with mine and have a list as long as my arm of parts that have been swapped out.

Oh, ok....i'll just stick with my trusty beater Gaui then although the HK would just be to see what it's like although i can't see it being as crash resiliant as the Gaui
I am not sponsered by Align or anyone else for that matter, i have had my hands on one or two of these 'clones' not DFC, imho thay are poorly made, thats not to say thay won't get you started on the path to taking up the hobby. but thay are made of cheesium! and are not strong imo. i am a club pilot with modest skill, i knew it would be opening a can of worms when i started this thred, but a mechanical failiure on any heli could result in a serious injury. nuff said just have fun with what you fly and be safe.
cheers

The problem isn't that you're sponsored or not. And not that you don't like clones, you're entitled to your opinion, mine is different and I've been happy with my 'clones' although they're not the cheap HK ones etc.
The issue people had was you posting a video making out that it exploded because it was a clone and all clones are unsafe. When in fact what you posted was a video of an idiot that didn't strap his lipo in causing it to fall out taking the canopy with it through the rotor disc.
