  • I need a Lady in my life...

No not like that, I'm happily married but it got you all reading the thread

Was going to put this in the scale section but there isn't a general scale section as such.

Anyway, the main thing that got me into RC Helis was wanting to own a Lady ( Airwolf ) or a BlueThunder. And I realised last night that I haven't even started looking at one, but my flying is at a point where I could get one and do some gentle scale like flying of it.

There's only really one BlueThunder fuse I can find and it's 700 based and will cost more than I'm willing to pay for one. So I'm thinking the Airwolf is the best option.

But here comes the rub, how do you pick one to build?

It's got to be electric. And FBL ( not that it makes much difference to the Fuselage ). And it has to have retracts and the rocket pod and guns etc although I doubt they'll retract lol. But do I go 450, 500, or 600 sized, and then which one.

So I was looking for opinions from people that have build some.

I'm leaning more towards 500 or 600 sized just purely down to the fact that I think 450 would be too small

I notice Align do a 500 size, and then the 500e heli is about £350 ish to go in it super combo. but would then need to convert to FBL. Not sure if the Align fuselage is any good though.

I think you'd be bored of scale after about 5 mins.

That's OK because I'm unlikely to get over 5mins flying time on a battery anyway

The align fuse is pretty good as I've just swapped my Trex 500 for a Airwolf fuse with gaui hurricane innards & a trex 450 sport, just in the process of tidying the wiring etc and then she's ready to try

Will be interested to hear how you get on with it. That was an option I was considering as the Gaui is uber cheap to buy.

I'm just at that age where Airwolf was the big thing when I was a kid. Knightrider, A-Team, Airwolf and street hawk were the only TV programmes I watched at one point

Gaui 425 Hurricane is quite a simple setup although I am trying to track down a (cheap) fbl head for it currently to finish the look, only problem I have found is that align do not do any spares for the airwolf at all.

Align do a MD500 fuse for the 600 which if there is any vibration will let you know as the tail will fracture and fall off!
