What mini heli?

Switch to I/up, flip the heli and remember that down is up and up is expensive

So its just a case of flipping the heli then switching my brain around ;-D

Is there a way to program a switch on the remote that reverses the controls? sureley this would be easier?

start off in a hover, swith to idle up (it would be best if you start at first higher up.)
Then increase your pitch (left stick forward) at the same time as pulling back on your right stick.
Once the heli is vertical the pitch should move back to the middle, and once inverted pitch slightly negitive, and right stick centre.
That causes a back flip.
do the opposite to get the heli upright again.
Its best to do it this way as the heli is flipping up each time.

No, that would be cheating! You have to get used to "sitting in the cockpit", think about the controls when your upright side on, or upright nose-in - how would you deal with that?
Doesn't work like that anyway, because there are different orientations in inverted too.

Try the bullet blades. You should find it makes things more stable and slows cyclic response a bit

Are those the ones that came in the box or are they just spares..?

The ones in the box. The heli comes with the straight blades on. Those are good for fast flight, especially outdoors.

There's not a lot in it, but whilst starting out you might as well get all the help you can.
Also look at using dual-rates to tame it for indoor flight.

dual rates allows you to have 2 sets of settings for the same heli. The switches on your DX6i marked d/r (I think) determine which rates you are using.

You can also use Expo which is used to alter stick response around mid-stick. + expo softens, - expo increases response. Positive expo means that small movements of the stick will have less effect than normal, smoothing things out a bit.

So for example, you may want to try dual-rates at 80% for indoor use on aileron and elevator, but 100% aileron and elevator for outdoor use. A flick of the switches alters the response to suit you.
