  • For Sale Rules Reminder! No bumping all the time please!

Just a quick one to remind members of the For Sale and Wanted section rules.
    For your convenience - http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/sale/1...d-section.html
Im seeing too many people bumping their for sale adverts to the top lately. Can i just say that the general attitude is to just delete them when this happens. And we are well within our right to do so. Please find time to read through the rules. If theres something you dont understand then please just shout, we are only a private message away.
Bumping is allowed once every other day. If theres conversation regarding items for sale and this makes the thread go to the top of the forum then please consider that as a bump.
    Thankyou!

Lee, just a quick one on this final point here, if people are seriously interested in the item in question, and ask a question on the items thread, then that is classed as a bump? if so, what was the point of having the rules changed? You say you will delete it for bumps more than one every other day, so are you saying that people should use pm's anyway, as opposed to saying they want the item on the thread? Not trying to be awkward, just wanting to clear the point up, as I am sure others will be thinking the same, Cheers buddy

      To expand on that
      Sometimes people post "PMed"
That is out of the OP's control, so what happens then?
Sorry if I'm being anal, but it would seem unfair if that was then deleted.
I'm all for the current rules but I suppose discretion can be used.

i think what is being said is that if it gets bumped by conversation, then fair enough, just dont "bump" it again yourself as well within the every other day time scale.

The way i look at it is say PM'd is fine, minor dialog on what is genuine interest is fine.

But in some cases you have a bump then later that day a price change that puts it back to the top again twice in one day. This would be bumping i would suggest that thread/sellers simply edit there original post with anything that changes but only ever post a bumping post as a most every 48hrs.

Just be sensible, geniune use and remember whilst we might not be online all the time people will quite happily report a post if they feel someone is breaking the rules and we will review it and act on it if we feel its in breach.
          Cheers

I think what im saying is if you contact someone for an item and then they reply saying sold to you or something then they should klass that as a bump. Ive seen this happen again and again then they still have the cheek to post 'bump' on the same day. If you want to use pms that fine... what i would recommend though is keeping all pms until you have recieved or some time after you have sold your item.

                              2p

I think the rules are clear as to what consitutes a "bump".

It's a shame that some forum members won't extend an equal opportunity to other members by constantly bumping their own sales. Personally speaking where repeat offenders are concerned, I'd remove the privilege on a temporary or permanant basis dependant on the nature of the offence / number of repeat offences.

Equally, is the 50 post rule enough? Again I'd be inclined to increase it or add the caveat that the seller must be a site sponsor, it's a small price to pay considering what you'd have to pay on ebay / paypal fees. 50 posts barely tells you anything, especially when in some cases, the posts in question are clearly designed just to increase the number of posts.
