    Hi Sheryl.

Yeah good point, I went with them being too loose first as the tip over happened after a flight and so the blades would have straightened in flight and been held straight by a tight grip.

However I'm new to the hobby and I just wanted to check that nobody would pipe up saying "This happened to mine and I carried on flying and the blade shattered into a million pieces when I was inverted at 36,000Ft afterwards!"

Ive meticulously checked everything over, all the edges of all the blades and can see no further damage at all.

IF the main shaft is bent then I'll eat my own foot. I cannot stress how slow the blades were going when it toppled. I'd say probably 300 rpm tops as a wild guess; You could see the blades spinning they were going that slow (if that makes sense, you could follow each one - it wasnt just a blur!)

It is an align 3gx unit, but im actually tempted to say that wasnt the cause of the topple. The landing area I use isnt that even, and is fairly mossy. I think what may have happened is that I landed it, and when I moved the stick to the low position, the negative pitch slowly compacted the moss in a low spot under one skid which made it topple.

And trillian, blades arent that expensive, but when you look at it in the light of 3 sets of blades for 7 flights, thats pretty expensive! (I did 3 flights, crashed it on my fourth like an idiot, then did 3 more today)
    Hey.

Ah, if the ground isn't level then this could most probably be the cause of the tip over. As you say the head speed was very low then this rules out any 3GX/flybarless inputs, but as ever anything is possible :-)

The trailing edge mark is ok, the Edge's I fly on my 550 have a mark on the trailing edge where the grip has marked it. The root, leading edge and upper and lower surfaces of the main blades are the areas where any major damage needs to be inspected very, very carefully. I think the major thing here is if there is any doubt what so ever then change the blades, but for your marks I wouldn't.

Chap at our field flies his 500efl with same amount of damage to the blades & has had endless of flights, only reason I'm saying this is because I've seen a lot of people over a time fly with blades in same condition
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Yeah, 3 sets of blades is definitely expensive. Just for future reference, you might want to check Align-Trex.co.uk from time to time. They sometimes have Align blades with little cosmetic blemishes really cheap. I got a pair of the 325mm 3G blades for a bit over a tenner and I have seen deals on the 425s as well.
