You should have voted on it then when you had the chance.

The 50 posts gain trust. I for example, can flick through their past posts and gauge how genuine newcomers really are.

Something obviously works as I havent been scammed on here in all the time I have been a member, and I have bought and sold a lot! I have been rolled twice on BMFA!

Oh, and since the new rules nobody has been scammed as far as I am aware.

And you have just done the same thing as always happens in these annoying threads. As far as i am concerned I have presented a water tight / impossible to argue against argument for saying that WANTING or BUYING on the forum is a totally different thing from SELLING... but you have ignored all that and restated the argument for having a limit for posts on SELLING.

I am beginning to think I am in the twilight zone here!

doc drop Raptormadsteve a pm and I'm sure he will explain how easy it is Oh sorry you can't hes banned! He shafted members on here in both directions and even came back with a new user name and started again!

money dosen't have to change hands RMS stuck up a wanted post asking for old servo's and gear to put in a raptor he was going to fly in a thunderstorm!!crazy as it sounds people fell for it and donated. and guess what a few months later he sold an artf raptor. That was one of his less offensive scams!!

We all voted for the new rules well before you joined,as much as you think they are nonsense they seem to work so why not just suck it up

..and what happens when they get they receive the item, then do a Paypal chargeback....and believe me it HAS happened!

You're proposal is in no way water tight, as buying and selling never will be.

The Doc has presented an argument HE thinks is water tight as far as HE is concerned. Trouble is WE don't agree. Good job he don't make the rules or run this site. These threads are indeed annoying.... but only when people such as the doc turn them into an annoyance. Simply by insisting that things be changed. Get over it mate!!!!!!!! You don't make the rules....!!

Listen honestly doc take our word for it that as much as it frustrates you that we have this rule those who have been here for in some cases years that if there is a will and determination to scam people they will attempt to do it and weve seen it in all forms from selling to donations to yes wanted.

now i appreciate the need to help newbies but only provided that i can ensure the seasoned members are aware that the person they are dealing with is a freshmen if you like. we dont take any responsibility for what happens in transactions but that doesnt mean we cant work to provide as safe as possible environment in which to buy and sell.

In my post I pointed out that there is nothing stopping you from Pm'ing the advertiser. Then it is up to them whether they sell to you or not. This being based on whether you've been around a while or not. At the end of the day Doc it's a bloody forum not ebay. We buy and sell based on the trust of the guys we sort of know on the forum, and this being based on the fact that we recognise them from their post count and their participation. There are plenty of places to go buy and sell, ours as a forum member are available with a few rules in place. Simples.

When I'm without Stella I will read your well written post and attempt to understand your argument.

I sincerely doubt "The Doc" will even be involved in this thread anymore..... and if he does return I'm sure it will only be to have a go at the rest of us that agree that the rules are there for a reason. It won't be to put anymore "water tight" arguments forward... because he doesn't have a leg to stand on I'm afraid. Im sorry... but who the hell has the cheek to come on here and argue with an administrator? Yes Doc... your argument IS nonsense.

Ummm - you haven't actually bothered to read my post at all have you?

Everyone - just go back and read my post... I was making an argument that buying and wanting are inherently different from selling. You are smart guys - so I assume that you a) haven't read my post, or b) haven't actually thought through what I am saying.

Guy - no need to get personal. You might notice the rule doesn't affect me - I am just looking out for the people that don't have 3000 posts about how shit the MCPX is under their belt

Stuart - the idea of having a wanted forum that new people can post in with clear warnings on it is a reasonable compromise.

                        Cheers!

The chargebacks are a lot more common than you think. Where have you got the info to prove otherwise, as I couldn't find anything?

The review procedure is just as useless as it was last year. PayPal will always side with the buyer in my experience.

the doc, like Boggy said, if you had been about when we had RMS scamming left, right & centre then you would understand where the rules all came from. After Steve we had another couple of members that have done the same so the rules were tightened to the way they are today. As has been said time and again, by the time you ask about a model & get info on what to buy your most likely to have reached the 50 post mark & one month's membership. Lets face it, there are forum's out there that have far stricter rules on buying/selling than we have here.

The rules as they stand were deemed to be the best option rather than taking away the for sale section completely (It was seriously considered to protect the members).

Christ, you lot really know how to get wound up easily! The OP asked why he could not access the sales/wants page. NOT post on it, read it. The last 20 posts are completely unwarranted and wouldn't surprise me if you scare away a newbie with your rants, was a simple enough question that if you read it properly, none of the sniping and arguing needed to happen!

er its a forum! A lot of questions can be answered with a simple yes or no,that would make it a pretty dull place Many posts go off topic but although the original post was not about posting in the for sale forum it lead to the doc ranting about the rules, which i think warranted a reply.Whats the problem with that?

scaring off newbies? I doubt it
