I don't think you can post in the for sale section until you have a minimum number of posts. ;-)

Not sure how thats made it clear to me as I do not want to put an advert in, I was just looking to buy stuff.
The strange thing is I can see all the ads on my home pc just getting that message on my laptop so can anyone tell me what i have done to my laptop or is there something I missed in the links above?
        Thanks Richard

To buy or sell I believe you have restrictions if your post count is less than 50 and you don't have any rep. If you were trying to reply to an add, your not allowed, yet.

Just use the private message system mate - I doubt anyone would be harmed by your attempts to throw cash at them... it is a quirk of this forum that sellers are 'protected' from people wanting to give them money

I had the 50 posts rule pointed out to me last weekend by a friend, the temptation is to post a load of rubbish to get to 50.I have resisted Surely those just joining are likely to be new to the hobby and most in need of cheaper second hand stuff to crash, why make it difficult for them to part with money?
p.s. anyone with a Jive 120 to sell please send me a pm, oups hope I have not broken any rules.

Been said before, because it's just as easy to be scammed by someone wanting something as well as selling something. Just send someone selling what you want a PM. It's then up to them whether they want to sell to you

I think people are misunderstanding my problem, I do not want to put anything up for sale so the restrictions are not a problem, the issue I have is that I cannot even view the for sale section.

I have had access to the for sale section since I joined in 2010 without any problems so I assume something is blocking it on my laptop.

I can view the for sale section on my other PC with no problem so I will just use that untill i can fix the problem I have.

                      Thanks Richard

Nonsense. See other thread for details.

Its not nonsense people have been scammed equally from wanting items - its easy done and its the forum that voted for the rules as they are.

Now I am considering creating a second wanted section only for forum newbies so that it will make it easier for beginners who are looking for things but also with it being apart from the main wanted it people will know that they are dealing with a new forum member.
                            Cheers

It IS nonsense - you just need to use a bit of common sense.

Someone selling an item can always screw you. It can be older / more crashed / more dodgy in flight than the buyer was led to believe. It could have intermittent faults or just funny vibes that you can't get to the bottom of. Even if it is cash on collection it would be possible to pull the wool over a lot of peoples eyes re minor faults - especially beginners. You never really know what you are getting till it arrives as a buyer.... if it arrives (cause a seller could always just take the money and run)

Now how do you scam someone by buying off them? If you do a bank transfer it is non returnable, if you do cash on collection you have lost your money (unless you use fake notes! ). The thing you keep going on about (paypal charge backs through a credit card) are rare - and there is an investigation and review procedure via paypal for sellers who feel they have been treated unfairly by charge backs. As I have said in various threads now - at any rate this is all a moot point BECAUSE YOU DONT NEED TO USE PAYPAL IF YOU ARE SELLING TO SOMEONE!

I don't know why i keep biting on this - but for some reason the constant repetition of logically flawed statements on this subject is driving me nuts.

So.... given all these facts above... I am sure you will now agree with me.... it is 'nonsense' to say that you can be "just as easily be scammed selling as buying"

                              QED.
