I'll just throw my hat in the ring... At danger of being lynched...

I'm... I can't believe I'm going to say it... Happy with my DX8.

No problems with pots, no problems with vibrate crashing stuff, no problems with signal in DSM2 or DSMX (my skookum can log lost frames or loss of reception at individual satellites, so I do have a quantitative means of measuring it vs my DX6i. I do in fact get far less lost frames than I did with the DX6 on the same setup.

All I currently appear to have is a nice comfortable, reasonably priced 8Ch radio with a lot of features, nice smooth sticks with adjustable tension and the coolness that is telemetry. I even got a free second AR8000 due to the deal horizon is/was doing to try and get the DX8 sales rolling again.

All qualified with a big "in my experience" "in my opinion" "your mileage may vary" etc etc

Have you not looked at and considered other radios! take a look at the hitec aurora 9 ! been using one of my mates for the last couple of weeks instead of my dx7 and i must say its pretty good! touch screen, loads of features( switch assignment etc) menus are easy to navigate and the receivers are very well priced if you had to change over! break away from the norm and take a look at them! as soon as i can afford i will be getting one!

            Nice! Simple and cheap? No.

            DX8 procedure......

            Step one: Turn transmitter on.

            Step two: Fly.

            Now THAT's simples.

I have a mcpx (and a dx6i to go with it) so thats another reason to go spekky and the aurora 9 is a little more pricey

I was asking the same question not so long ago. Most on here as you know are very anti dx8 on here and was told to get something else. Features I wanted were on the DX8, and came with a nice price. Decided to take the plunge get one.. and all I can say is that I am happy that I did. Dont get the frame losses or holds, and fades are very low. Telemetry is fantastic, and would choose it over any radio in its price range..

The Aurora... don't think you will get the support as of the DX8.. and also hear Latency maybe more noticeable.

I really liked my DX8 until I smashed three heli's. Spoke a few times with HH, and was told it must be my fault, there is nothing wrong with the DX8 or any compatibility issues with older DSM2 receivers. Then went on to smash a plane as well, then rudder pot problems.............sent it back, came back with a clean bill of health....then it was sold.

What happened two months later, HH announce issues with older receivers, especially AR6200's (guess what I had in my heli's ??). It might be all sorted now (maybe??), but some people paid out a lot of money whilst HH used the general public as beta testers, and basically stuck their head in the sand and denied everything.

I'm really chuffed for anyone who has not had a problem. My entire fleet was Spektrum, and I know of at least 10 other people who were also Spektrum fans who have sold the lot off and switched to another brand of radio. They might have solved the issues, but the damage from that launch will last a long time with a lot of people. I bet I sold off 15-20 receivers when I got rid of mine.

I tried my best not to get drawn into this, but the "DX8 hater" comments rub me up the wrong way a bit. Pays your money, takes your choice. DX8 is a great radio, shame the quality wasn't there at the launch.
                  Cheers,
                  Simon

I think that's a very fair comment, and you certainly can't be blamed for switching after your experience.

It's all anecdotal, but there seem to be way less complaints about the DX8 on the web these days, and you'd have to be a fool to truely believe it's because no one is flying it anymore, we all know how huge spektrum's audience is. That combined with the fact spektrum actually admitted to problems in the end and then moved to fix them suggests to me that the radio is more mature. It is not perhaps the same buggy crap that was unleashed on the poor unfortunates who paid a hefty price to beta test for spektrum.

As above, it's a great radio (now) in my opinion... It's just a real shame the quality wasn't there at the start.

If you do buy one just make sure it's a new one not affected by the various recalls, I imagine its possible there may still be some old stock lurking around.

DX8 has all the features but why would you risk it when you can get an 8FG for not a lot more. What does it offer that the 8FG doesn't?

If pots failing etc after only a couple of months doesn't worry you, then fine, but it certainly makes me wonder what other sub-standard parts are in that radio.

Agree with this one.. Buy a new one, and make sure it is not old stock. ie buy from a shop which turn over a lot of these.

everyone has there own opinion on the DX8 depending on there experiences with using one, i have used mine on a mSR, Trex 500, blade 400 and never had a problem, (but then i dont fly that often, up till now.
l personally like the DX8, and many others too.
At the end of the day its a case of suck it and see, you might love it or hate it - but you'll never know till you try it

Not much more is debatable. Further, neither works with current spektrum gear, so not a lot more becomes much more after you feature in changing things, and also becomes a pain if you own a couple of micros or the mCP X...
