More Castle Creations Re-Calls!!!

Still trying to chase the status of when I will get my 120HV back.....

This is the second time I have sent my esc back to them now, so has cost me over £20 just in parcel fees.

I sent out to them on the 26th August to Belgium...By tracking the package it was received by them 29th August..

Sent email to them 9th October to check status, and received no reply from them. Second email sent 17th October, and still awaiting a reply.

Not good..

I got my 2 ICE2 120HV esc's back last week, and have been testing one out in my older machine. I've given the ESC a bit of a beating and its performed flawlessly (only got slightly warm but thats it). One interesting point is that one ESC came back with a new style label and one with the older more recognisable type. However, you could tell that both were brand new. Also got a couple of fabulous neck straps (probably by way of a thank you and appology for all the messing around).

Still early days as yet, but the signs are looking good that they have finally cracked the problems.

We have shipped just over 50 ICE 80HV controllers to Belgium. Unfortunately yours was #118 received by Belgium, so we did not have enough in the first batch to get to yours. We will be sending them another large batch of ICE 80HV controllers in about 2 weeks. There will be a slight shipping delay getting the controllers to them. I would estimate it will take about 4 weeks when Belgium ships the replacement controller to you. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

This is the stupid thing. What CC should have done, since they knew they were doing the recall, was ramp up production as much as they could in advance of the returns. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't but it's telling that they can only spare 50 controllers for the entire Europe service centre. And from the wording it sounds like they class that as a 'large batch' and they are shipping on a 2 week cycle, 50 each which accounts for your 4 week wait.

We all know what's happened though. Align have said to CC "give us all your ICE2's to put in our kits or you'll loose our business" so CC have sent them crap loads leaving them with pretty much no stock to replace the ones in the field. Align don't give a stuff about the ones they've already sold, that's CC's reputation that's got an issue not theirs.

It's sad that I suspect one Big name is basically screwing over another one in the industry even though they use them. Kind of like the Apple-Samsung spat.

Well only a week ago had email saying awaiting stock min 2 weeks

Today an email saying my hv120 has been posted back to me .YAY :-)

CC don't seem to know their arse from their elbows. I am glad to be getting it back and finally gettin to maiden my rave env but why can't we get realtime updates ? Grrrrrrr still i guess a neckstrap will make up for missing the last 6 weeks+ of summer flying :-(

I missed this one when first posted.

You need to follow the time-line of the fault-finding, testing and the recall to properly understand what is going on over there.

The recall happened before they had properly identified the fault and completed the testing, so there was no way for them to ramp up production in advance of the returns.

Also, in the USA at least, they are not just replacing new for old, they are updating a good number of the returned controllers with a new board so having large quantities of new controllers on hand wouldn't help with that either.

The 4 week wait is accounted for by adding shipping and processing time to the 2 weeks wait for the batch to be send, not by assuming it is two batches.

I don't doubt that Align got theirs first, but that would have been done as soon as the production line started moving again, I doubt it is impacting things now.

The early production runs were all for 120HV models, the 80HV followed along some time after and it would seem in smaller quantities so that isn't helping either.

Clearly CC have not managed the process well with regard to their overseas locations, but at least you are going to get a new controller returned and not one that has been reworked.

Let's hope they get everyone sorted quickly now as with luck the next batch should be enough to cover everyone.

Both are possible from the USA, but I'd expect new units from Belgium.

Surely Castle are under contract to Align and have to supply them to meet their obligations. They don't have a huge financial penalties if they keep us waiting. I gave up waiting and brought one else where and will just sell mine when it eventually turns up. I've been waiting since mid August and just thought "ah sod it!I need to get in the air." I will lose money but in the end it's worth it just to get going.
