I suppose this was always gonna happen nothing is perfect, it will show in the weeks to come if this is an isolated incident or a continuation of the problem. I should imagine the likes of Align will not tolerate another flaw it will give them a bad name I can see them pulling the ESC out of the kits altogether but replace them with what ? a Kontronic would be horrendously expensive.

My ESC is still on a shelf in Belgium, I think in some respects its better off being there than in the USA as we will hopefully be getting totally new units not frigged ones. I dunno when its gonna land over here though.

Has anybody got their replacement ICE2 yet and if so where did it come from US or Belgium?

Sent my v3 back again to USA on 26th aug, tracked as arriving on 3rd Sep but nothing from CC so far, not even a conformation email

Well today I have been trying to find out when I could expect mine back, as it touched down in Belgium on 2nd August so I PM'd Patrick del Castillo through RCGroups and this is what I got sent back;

"Hi Ian,

Although you have been waiting 7 weeks, the recall was only issued 3 weeks ago. I'll try to find status on your particular controller today.

Thanx!

Now I'm quite reserved but I'm having to bite my tongue a bit here and not reply just yet, as for me the recall was a week or two before I sent mine in and came about after the 35 acre field got torched in the US. In this case the original 120HV recall and not the latest one asking for the return of the V3 modded ICE's which also went poof and the other HV's and Mamba's.

I've not got a problem waiting, but if I am reading this reply correctly then I'm having the wool pulled over my eyes by trying to say the recall wasn't issued as long ago as it was.

Patrick is conveniently forgetting the original recall, the current recall was nearly 4 weeks ago and of course Belgium never got going between the previous recall and the current one.

Bit of a silly statement from him though as at face value you apparently managed to anticipate the recall by 3 weeks and send in your ESC before it was announced

Even after the second recall I get the impression that they hadn't finalised the fix at that time - he must be thinking that the recall only really started when they knew how to repair the units even though the units were flooding in

Would be good to access a log for updates rather than having to email their support each time.

They signed off on the new boards on August 30th, the returns work began then so we are just over two weeks into this from that perspective.

The problem is they only began work on the USA returns at that point, we still don't know if anything has actually reached Belgium yet or if even one unit has shipped back from Belgium ...

Also remember this is just for the HV120, other models have not even shipped to the USA yet as they are focusing on the 120 for now, expect other models to begin shipping back in about 2 weeks.

Yeah, well he's an engineer & the boss - and a more corporate company probably wouldn't let him near customers...

I like the way you get people like him (& Angelos, etc) on the forums, and it's part of why I have no problem with gaffs or such. I also tend to think that cutting some slack is part of the deal for that participation.

i recieved my cc 120hv ice2 back yesterday is this product ok or does it still need to go back i have already waited 6 weeks for this one and want to make sure its ok cause this is going to be placed into my £3000 vario carbon airwolf. can anyone tell me if the new ice2 is safe thanks
