For returns to the USA, wherever possible they aim to return your own original unit upgraded with a new board.

I suspect those returned to Belgium will get replaced with new units as I doubt they are equipped to do the board replacement, but time will tell.

Posted my HV80 today to USA. Shipping cost is £7.02 for up to 100 grams with airmail small packet - signed for. Larger ESC's will be a heavier and little more postage but should be more than £8 using this service.

Hopefully you noted the comment earlier in this thread that they are not yet ready to process the ICE HV80 models yet?

At least you'll be in the queue when they do start on them.

Thanks for the info Mark. I had to source another ESC anyway as I need to keep the Fusion flying for FBL R&D. The ICE2 will probably end up on my second Fusion that I have not built yet.

These units seem to be being modded at several service centres around the world.
I wonder if all of these centres have to equipment to fully test these ESC'c before they are being shipped back to waiting customers.
I bet they are soldering on the new boards and shipping them out like there is no tomorrow.
Based on an estimated 50,000 returns done in say 10 weeks - that's 833 units per day!
It's hard to believe that they have enough test equipment.
Maybe they have preparing for this for a long time.

I doubt if even a fraction of the 50,000 out there have actually been returned yet.

A lot of people will either not know about the recall or will have decided theirs is working fine so why rush (not a good idea).

What are you reading that is suggesting there are multiple places doing the work?

The Belgian location has not started returning any yet as far as I know and I strongly suspect they will be just replacing with new from there not reworking.

Yeh fair comment.
I saw the recall notice. It has 3 places to send them.
I think to test a device thoroughly it going to need at least 5min for it to get to a reasonable temperature, 3min of testing, couple of min to set up and remove so say 10min each min, double shift thats about 90 per day flat out. S'pose thats reasonable.

I expect both Belgium and Australia will not be doing physical work on the units so I wouldn't worry too much about them.

The testing does not have to be a serial process either I'd have thought, or at least it wouldn't be if I was designing the process

Just out of interest....... who do you think are gonna get there esc's first ? ppl that have sent them back or align who prolly have 1000s of kits it cant sell !

My thinking is :-

1 American Align kit suppliers

2 American warrenties

3 European Align kit suppliers

4 rest of the world Align suppliers

5 You lot

6 any one left !

There are two separate streams running though, the production of new complete units (which I would expect are going to Align and other retailers) and the reworking of returned units, so the sequence you suggest is not necessary, also I very much doubt that they are bothering to try and sort through the returns to the USA facility to pick out which ones are non-US and slow track them.

I think we can be sure that anything returned to Belgium is probably going to be last though.

Yeah but essentially everyone is getting new or replacement parts from CC yes ?, so u could still list there order of priority assuming we all agree they will give priority to certain ppl

My only point was that there is a repair line that is handling the customer returns, they either fix the unit with a new board or return a new unit (possibly refurbished new return from Align), those guys don't work on the production line.

The production line is churning out new units which will be going to Align and the retail channel so the work involved in resupplying Align and the retail channel doesn't need to hold up the repair line servicing customer returns.

It is safe to assume that returns to the USA are being handled faster than returns to Belgium though, similarly HV120 units are being fixed now while other types are running about 2-3 weeks behind.
