My ESC was purchased late November in anticipation of the Fusion 50 release. It wasn't used much until recently when we did over 20 or so flights on the Fusion testing the FBL. This evening whilst showing the FBL to a friend the ESC caught fire. Luckily the flames died just before the rotor spooled down whilst we hopelessly waited to see what happens. Everything under the canopy has a coating of thick smoke with minimal damage to the plastics and a deformed canopy.

Oh well, at least CC are sorting things out now but I can't wait until the ICE2 comes out. I have to carry on with my work and a Scorpion or a Kontronic seems a likely choice.

Latest word is they are still testing the ICE2 at the moment, no replacement work has started yet.

Final 'beta' tests on Monday apparently ...

I have a spare Kontronik 80 or 120HV sitting here you may borrow if you wish,
Thanks Ben. I've just found a Scorpion 90A in my spares box which I was using on a fixed wing model. I'll install it next week and see if it does the job, if not I may take you up on your offer to get the Fusion flying until the ICE2 comes.

Use a seperate bec and make an opto to keep isolation between speed controller and your electronics ... That way if somthing cremates you dont get 48v up the prototypes....
But what happens if the BEC fails? As Paul already said there is a 2S LiPo at the front of the heli that powers all the radio gear and servos.

...sound more likely we need a spartan esc next...:-)
Actually, I was recently approached by a company that manufacture pumps for full scale aircraft asking if I could make them an ESC to drive the brushless motor of the pump. I thought it could be an interesting project as in the future it could be further developed to an RC product. But, I dare not think what would happen if that was to fail, let alone catch fire!

Good news - the ICE 2 HV devices are officially released!

Not so good news from PdC:

So -- it's more expensive, but will probably be quicker to send it directly to the USA.

              Thanx!

They could have said that on their original recall post, why even open a Belgium repair centre if its not going to be treated the same?!

Oh well, another couple of weeks on top of the month already won't make a difference LOL

Do miss my 700 though, but new adopters of the HV2's will be beta testers.

my hv 120 is sat with Belgium office since 1st August, will the first in first out basis be used so will i be one of the lucky ones - not that waiting a month is acceptable.

I also have a brand new hv 80 to send back from my 600e flybarless kit - done the repair raising but was reluctant to send back until I had some information on my 120.

I think this has been managed very poorly.

                    Email to Castle

Was wondering if there was chance of an update. A month has passed since mycontroller was received in Belgium and have not yet received any info to go onor my controller back.

I also have a new 600 kit with an 80amp in. Im obviously reluctant to senduntil i can guarantee my first coming back.

                    Im getting a little frustrated.

Not sure if you have tracking on it, but has it cleared Customs yet?

Much like the UK, things can get stuck in Customs for a while before USPS gets their hands on it for the last part of the journey.
