I knew my flying time this year was going to be a bit it and miss with work, so I set myself 3 goals.
1. Cut the grass at the field inverted, done first and loved it.
2. Piro flip, they're not pretty all the time but the timing is coming along nicely.
3. Lastly, inverted backwards circuits. this has been the single hardest thing i've had to learn up to now and it just didn't seem to be coming at all. Then it clicked on the sim (too many nights alone in a hotel room) so it will be unleashed on the field at the weekend.
I know it doesn't seem like much to you 3d sky gods but for me I've realised it really opens up my flying in ways I'd not thought of. So guys work on your orientations before going for the harder stuff as it really pays off in the end. Hopefully get it nailed for real at the weekend, and who knows maybe Grass Roots for me next year
Best of luck mate, I'm at a similar stage. No piro flips for me, just tic tocs (nose up, down and aileron) but I'm very comfortable to inverted backwards circuits, 8s etc on the sim, just haven't got the balls to properly try it for real. I've done a couple of half circuits, just nothing pretty
Well it went quite well. A couple of backwards inverted circuits, much improved piro flips and some decent 4 point tick tocks, well 3 point tick tocks, I can't get the timing right for the nose down part, I felt much better today. Well happy

Good luck davey, ya neva know maybe u will be the next nick maxwell or curtis youngblood.......
Oh I somehow doubt it Chris, but thanks. Either your natural or like me you have to really work at it and take it a bit at a time. Break things down and let it sink in before trying it for real.

Well it's been a few weeks since I started with backwards inverted and after todays flights in between showers my advice to anyone wanting to progress in their flying is to learn their orientations, sim time, but most of all set targets. My flying in my eyes has come on leaps and bounds since I set myself what I considered realistic aims. It's really coming together guys and the confidence that I have when I'm flying now is a world away from a month or two ago where I was getting massive adrenalin rushes that just didn't help me at all. Slowly slowly catchey monkey as they say. I'm never going to be a 3D sky God but with a bit of work and the help of the lads I'm going to go for Grass Roots next year should they hold one.

Nice one. My next goal is turns towards me and flying circles. Then do it all backwards
