I still hope this is just some random error and not a policy decision on their part so I'm holding out for a good result even as it feels less likely as each hour passes.
    Mark

This is not what its about !!

The issue is very simple we will make all aware soon enough but suffice to say if your going to talk constructively, have some fun and be sensible the topics will stay in full view. If your going to bait people or stores, ranting then I'll take the view that as soon as you get into a bunfight I'll pull the plug on it.

For way too long certain people have been using the forum as a playground for there little wars and personal vindettas of hatred and its ALL going to stop.

All to often people to me are making mountains out of mole hills and spreading false assumptions because they've nothing better to do than stir up rubbish - so soon the lay of the land here is about to change and those that use up there chances will no longer be around.

Its doesn't effect the ethos of freespeech because the onus is always on the member to stay within the rules. Nothing about only having positive posts, I thought some would have seen the writing on the wall when I posted a couple of weeks ago....

    http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/main-d...tml#post690006

So if the bunfight arrives and people can't respond constructively then they will find the thread moved into debates so they can either cool off or smash there keyboard to pieces but I'll not let them suck the whole forum into it either.

A footnote to clarify this is NOT aimed at Gareth and Ben - its one the key issues within the forum as a whole that I intend to root out....

This isn't a problem unique to this forum, but we do seem to end up with some convoluted approaches to the problem here that would be dealt with elsewhere simply by removing the offending posts, not sending the whole thread into purgatory.

The risk is strong that people who dislike a particular thread only have to stir things up to get it consigned to 'Debates' when the subject matter would appear to warrant a wider audience.

I remain to be convinced that this is a sensible approach, not that it is important if I'm convinced or not ...

I agree with Mark! Just hide the single post/s not the whole thread!

having been a moderator on a non heli forum a while back i appreciate what a thankless job it is, it is unbelievable the way people change when they get behind a keyboard, you moderate a post that breaks the rules and you/the forum are stopping free speech or taking sides and the abuse you see on the forum is only the tip of the iceberg compared to what happens and gets said behind the scenes. now i have no gripes with any of the people concerned in this incident and have no problem with fl, but i think we need to stop and think what we want from this forum and then post responsibly so we can get that.
i have never met stuart but i think i have been around this forum long enough to trust he is going to try to be as fair as possible.
i do take your point about people might bait to try to get the thread moved but again i think we need to trust stuarts judgement here because i dont think he is a fool and will know what is really going on and will act accordingly.

Me too, I've moderated on much larger and more acrimonious non-heli forums than this one, which is why I never underestimate the ability of people to manipulate the rules to their own ends.

My current position is driven mostly by recent events, which do not in my view at least, display good judgement.

I appreciate others may hold different views of course.

There is way more to this that I cannot discuss openly yet but the ethos and focus is to end the bitching, baiting and driving a thread south just to stir up a bunfight. When im ready to let everyone know of the changes soon i will do.

I still agree with the minority... Strip away everything else, the MAIN issue is a grievence between a buyer & sellers account.. the right move was done and again.. I'm not sticking up for any parties.
