  • Send me a TX!

Right, so my shipping company have appologised for the delay, and now I feel so much better!
They say it will be shipped to DURBAN (I am in Cape Town) today, and the driven to Cape Town. To get here, they say - 6 weeks!

So, I am going to have to buy a new TX and RX t fly my heli, or I will possibly die. It's true.

So, does anyone have a 35Mhz TX (6 or 7 channel) and an TX to go with it, that I can use in my Rappy while I wait? One that works, and won't send my heli into the ground.

I am willing to pay for the fastest and safest postage possible. Just tell me the price, and PayPal will be your friend.

    Anyone able to help?

There seem to be loads of model shops in SA, theres a list here:
    http://www.whitehills.co.za/suppliers.htm#RC_Sales
Also if you look round a few forums such as the "cough"rider and helifreak you will find Capetown based guys and ways to contact them. There may be a local you can make an arrangement with.
I have a suspicion it will be easier for you to find other heli fliers in Cape Town than it was in remotest scotland- though I'm assuming you are in the city!
I'll send yo umy 7CAP and a PCM rx for £218 plus shipping (price of a DX7 ex servos)

I'd just go out and buy a hi-tec optic6 Tranny..Theyre easy enough to program & not too bad for the money believe it or not...Then flog it or use it for Phoenix when yours turns up

Thanks guys. Rob, I'll keep your offer in mind.
A guy who owns a hobby site in Johannesburg is offering me a JR 2610... It looks like a DX7, it seems, except, 35Mhz.
I might just go and buy that for now then. Does anyone thing that's a good/bad idea?

                        Hi Cralis,

I'm afraid I can't help much as the only TX I have lying around without any work is my old Sanwa 7000. I know it's heli capable but I've never used it to fly a heli so I can't say how hard it will be to program the thing. I use it only for dodgy slopes and as a backup for a rainy day. Other problem is it's a Mode 1 tranny that was converted to Mode 2 only the programming can't be changed so it's a real interesting thing to get setup if you're not going to use it mode 1.

Wessie from Clowns Hobbies seems like a good oke so he should be able to set you up with a transmitter for a reasonable price? I don't know what your actual transmitter is but if you're going to consider buying a new one why not just get a DX7 and consider it an investment? If Wessie can't help you can visit www.revohobbies.co.za. Their good friends of mine and have good prices.

I'll keep a lookout up here but I don't know of any people looking to sell transmitters right now for bargains. You can also visit the Yahoo group called "SARFLY" which is where most of the wheeling and dealing happens really. Other places like www.rcclassifieds.co.za also exist but I already checked, they got nothing right now.

Either way, let me know if I can help.
                        Cheers,
                        Rudolf du Toit

                          Thanks Rudolf!
Checking those sites, and will call Clowns today... Infact, now. I have a DX7 already, so this is going to be a backup one really, that I can use for the next 6 weeks before my DX7 comes from the UK.
I think I want the JR2610, as it looks like the DX7, and maybe feels like it, but is 35Mhz... Then, the transition to and from it will be easy. You agree?
                          Trying those sites now.
Seeing as though your up north, you should check www.flightsoffancy.co.za
A guy there, Stuart - amazing prices, and the guy is great! I
d get from him, but the one I want is out of stock, and I want it this weekend... but he sells at close to cost, as his goal is to get rc flying more popular.
Checking those site you mentioned. Thanks.

                            Hi Cralis,

Ok if you already own a DX7 that puts a spanner in the works indeed. I wouldn't suggest the 2610 for you then no. It doesn't compare to the DX7 at all and is considered by us just one of the better entry level transmitters for heli and plane guys. The 2610 is an awesome little TX for the price but the DX7 blows it away. If you want something that compares to the DX7 you need to shop for the ?2720? or ?2710? (I honestly can't recall the correct name now but the "27" bit is the key). If I can make a suggestion though (Your position is an odd one and I honestly wouldn't know what to do myself). I would probably in your case if I had some spare cash to spend then rather just shop for a JR 9XII transmitter and reciever. You'll soon be able to buy the Spectrum conversion for the 9X (I mean really soon) so that would be a better investment for you and an upgrade. Then once everything is in place you can sell the DX7 or keep it as a Phoenix box. At least this way you'll be moving forward and if you're keen about aeromodelling which I gather you are you will be making what could be considered an "Investment". Hehehe

Dunno howthat sanwa was converted to mode 2 from 1, but you can usually unplug the stick unit s from the main board and swap them round, thus you can just swap the elevator and throttle and then all theprograming would work. I did this on an old sanwa tx I had, but it wasn't a 7000.
Just in case that makes your old Tx more useful Spacey.
