the longer gearing gives less torque. i think there might be something in the tooth size making the 600 less efficient too.

Gear Ratios is like a gear box of a car, 1st gear lots of torque but no speed compared to 5th gear lots of speed but no torque. a balance needs to be found for the Trex it is faster with less torque and the Knight slow with more torque.

You want to be running at a minumum of 1850 for sport flying

For 3D then go for 2000

so if ive got this right for 3D headspeed of 2000 @ 8.7:1 is an engine speed of 17400rpm or thereabouts?

Yes 17400 engine RPM through an 8.7 to 1 gear ratio will give you 2000 rpm on the head (unloaded).

You may want to run a higher headspeed, say 2100, depends on the model and what you want out of it.

With your raptor did you ever consider a eccpm conversion with the kasama head?
To me all that front frame going up and down doesn't look right compared to my trex450.

I quite like the simplicity of the mCCPM Raptor, the only thing I did not like was the plastic pitch tray as it is pushed from one side so it tends to twist, that is why I got an alu pitch try instead.

All my other helis are eCCPM but as discussed in another thread eCCPM can be more fiddly to set up.

From what ive read, im thinking the main upgrades needed to get the rappy Titan flying good, would be the Kasama head(already got), metal pitch tray, 3rd bearing on the started shaft and metal tail rotor gearbox.

is there anything else I should be considering?

Have you got the optional gearign as the Raptor is 8.5:1 standard, with the optional grearing you would have 8.73:1
