  • Is this normal

Every time I take my trex 600n out, I feel the need to check it over and check for any thing that may need replacing.

After flying last evening I picked it up with the button, and felt a slight nock. So when I get home I investigate. Turns out that the lower block bearing under the auto gear is not so good a fit. The shaft as some play and I can crab the head and move it, this is where the nick comes from.

So I order 3 bearings for the 3 blocks, no point in just doin one. After I remove the bearing it runs smooth and shows no signs of damage, but when you insert the shaft this is when you no it's just not right.

Now if any have seen any of my other post, I don't mind spending money on it. The wife's not always best pleased and says when's it going to stop. I said never unless I sell and pack it up. I find it relaxing just and passes some good hrs on rebuilding it.

Some very minute play in the mainshaft bearing blocks is normal. My Fury 55 has some rocking motion on the shaft but only a bit.

Aslong as it's not serious movement or slop and only very tad, then you're fine in my opinion

Well I only noticed the nock last night, I also pick it up with the button. This is why I checked it over, new to helis so I don't no how much is classed as normal.

3 bearings should see it ok though, the bearing did run smooth as said. But once the shaft was in you could move side to side, the bearing had play in it so I ordered just to be safe. Would I alloy bearing block be worth it just so all 3 are alloy.

If it doesnt feel right with the mainshaft in try loosening off all three bearing blocks with the main shaft in give it a little wiggle and tighten the blocks up again. you may just have them misaligned slightly.
As callum said its normal to have slight play on the 600, both mine did although the ally blocks improved this slightly.

A standard bearing block with radial bearings will give out fairly quickly because radial bearings are not designed to cope with the axial loading caused by positive and negative pitch inputs.

If you want to completely eliminate play in the main shaft then you could try fitting a pair of G-force bearing blocks which have thrust bearings built in to relieve the side loadings on the radial bearings.

I guess it's the added cost of these thrust race bearings and blocks that means that manufacturers like Align don't include them as standard in their kits, which is a shame because the main shaft bearings get the heaviest pounding of all on any heli.

            Ok cheers for that

Maybe a mod later, as I just ordered bearings last night. Why only 2 blocks when there are 3 on the trex, or is doing the bottom a waste with these fitted.

My 600 did the same. If you're holding it by the button, then it will just be the blade grips moving in the soft dampeners.

                  update

New bearings here and fitted, as said bottom lower block bearing seemed to be fine. The other 2 block bearings was shot, both very grindy. Was worse then the back bearing in the engine when i replaced both them last week, so don't think they would have lasted much longer before they totaly failed.
