Whats all the fuss about with the dx8/range test

OK OK OK i have decided to do a range test on my t rex 600 using my DX8, AR9000 rx and telemetry rx, but this range test was going to be different i live in a block of flats only 2 floors and i live at the top(2nd floor), i turned on my model and had my partner on the phone i went down stairs my block of flats and then walk 30 paces and did a range test and i had full control of the model so i went another 30 paces AND STILL had controll over the model now bear in mind that the model is INSIDE MY HOUSE ON THE 2 FLOOR BLOCKED BY OTHER FLATS AND LOTS OF TREES and i had controll all the time, my telemetry data log had NO F AND H and each arial was reading

I think the fact that it was in the air regardless of its obstructions is the reason it passed - that time. A range check should always be done with the model on the ground for a valid test.

I don't have a DX8, but, i'll never have a DX8 either, i may well never get another spectrum.

The thing with the DX8 is that there have been SOME definite issues with it (recognised by Sepktrum themselves e.g. the vibration alarm recall, some cases of faulty pots). There have also been some crashes where people strongly believe that the DX8 was the cause (but I'm still not sure how many of these have been proved beyond doubt) and then there have been some cases where a faulty DX8 would be one of a large number of explanations for a crash/glitch but because of a climate of DX8 fear I think sometimes people are jumping to the conclusion that the radio is at fault when the evidence does not warrant that conclusion.

I agree with Mutley's point about being on the ground though. Hard to say what effect this would have on the range once you throw in the fact that your heli is inside a flat!

Sorry Sacko, but this is kind of what I'm talking about. The Spektrum guy did NOT say "10% of DX8's have had a problem". You are misrepresenting what he said. He implied that it MAY be more than 1%. If you read what he has written, you will see that he said if 10% of DX8's are faulty then that would be "ridiculously high".

10% is a hell of a lot of faulty Tx's and consequently putting a lot of peoples life's in danger. 10'000 sold = 1000 accidents waiting to happen.

Did you actually read my last post???? Yes, 10% IS a hell of a lot of faulty DX8's BUT nobody from Spektrum has said there is a 10% fault rate. The Spektrum development guy said 10% would be "ridiculously high". So the fact that 10% of DX8's are faulty is in fact NOT a FACT. It is a good old fashioned internet rumour.

How many times have you sent in a faulty Rx, only to see on the invoice 'No Fault Found, but Replaced for Piece of Mind'?! Lol..

Is this in range test mode?

Find 60 paces hard to believe,maybe the signal from the phone was stronger and carried the power for the test,hang up and then lose signal
