No I don't necessarily take anything a company rep says as fact but I do think this DX8 situation is getting a bit over the top and it is not helpful for anyone to write things like "10% of DX8's are faulty -that's what the Spektrum guy said" when that is not what he said. It's more helpful to just stick to the real facts and keep an open mind until those facts provide you with hard evidence. At this stage, the facts tell me that it is POSSIBLE that the DX8 is fundamentally flawed due to poor design/manufacture but it is also entirely possible that a few people have just been unlucky to get a rare isolated faulty DX8, a few others have misinterpreted some facts and mistakenly blamed their DX8 and a few others have not set their equipment up properly and caused a crash themselves -and all this has then added up to a DX8 panic.

I sent an AR7000 in last week because the insulation was worn through slightly on a single antenna wire and I asked for that wire to be replaced. They took it upon themselves to replace all 4 antennas even though this was quite unnecessary. That does not mean that the AR7000 is flawed -I guess it just means they were being extra thorough.

It means they have changed to a different type of wire.

..which it should have had in the first place.

I havent had a problem with my DX8 at all as of yet, but how and why people are still defending the transmitter is beyond me.

To be honest if its not 1% but between 1% & 10% its still enough of a worry for me never to buy one.
I had a dx7 a dx7se ive had a dx 9. I wanted an 8 but boy am I glad at the time I couldnt afford it. I feel for all you dx8 owners
as you have kit that might be ok & might not be ok I personaly wouldnt want to take the risk using one till it was sorted once & for all.

            All the fuss? Well....

It's always hard to show some evidence in RC so I conducted several tests and made this video:

YouTube - Spektrum DX8 critical transmission/antenna problems, looses contact to receiver within 10 meters

            (see video descriptions for details)

Although I moved the antenna to trigger the problem it does also happen without doing that, just takes longer. I'm actually surprised to find many complaints from European DX8 users but not so many if at all from the US. Could it be something related to the European signal compliance (antenna? TX board? software?). Just guessing...
