stupid PSU question

Anywhere from 11V to 15V usually. They assume you are going to use a car battery. The higher the voltage you use the less current you will need. Charge a 2200mah battery at 2.2amps. You can probably increase it to speed things up, but it depends on the battery. The faster you charge the less cycles you'll get out of the battery.13.8V is fine.Originally posted by stumpe View PostGot my new charger and psu today, silly question is what voltage should the psu be running at?
It has 13.8v on the lcd display (200w fusion)

i am using a mixture of batts (all 2200 hk jobbys for the 3 cells - flightmax - turnigy - nanos)
I have put the max charge rates (as per my maths, please correct if wrong)
flightmax 20c - rated to 2c -so max charge rate is 4.4amp?
flightmax 25c - rated to 2c - so max charge rate is 4.4amp?
turnigy 35c - rated to 2c - so max charge rate is 4.4amp?
Nano 25c - rated to 5c - -so max charge rate is 11.0amp?
Cheers for your help on this guys, i was never good with electrics
All 4 batts now charged
2x 2200 - 35C charged at 1a took 46.58mins charging from 3.8?
2x 2200 - 20c charged at 1a took about 10mins from 4.15ish
That is great for me, so 4 batts with around 80% took out charged in 46 mins.

Ok i have been reading a lot about charging lately, and no matter how i try i cant get my head round it... (sorry to hijack the thread)(but no idea how to start a new thread on new site yet)
I have the following chargers
pro-peak varipulse
pro-peak E0-6+
hyperion Eos 1210i
imax b6
prolux 3839
mystery cx450
I have theses batts
2 x Turnigy 2s-35c 2.2mAh
1 x BQY 11.1v 2200mAh
2 x power focus 3s 2200mAh
2 x e-flite 3s 11.1 1800mAh
I have the following adapter boards
JST EH
JST XH
CB1010 XH EH
and about 40 mixed connection cables from 2S to 6S
Now all the batts are for my 2 x blade 400's
Now is there a chart that i could download showing what to use (charger/adaptor/battery) and what settings the charger should be set to....
the reason i need a chart is i suffer from short term memory loss ( in other words ill forget everything im told unless i constantley repeat it over and over) so i really need a downloadable reference to look at to remember
any help really much appreciatedLast edited by gazza131; 09-03-2011, 11:45 PM.

Just to confuse you (not gazza as he's a hijacker) as you are'nt good at maths. A 2C charge does not take 1/2 the time of a 1C charge. Charging the nano at 5C is probably safe but most people would stick to 2C. Part of the lipo charge is done at full current, so that bit shortens in proportion. Once the volts reach 4.2 the current reduces to avoid the volts going over 4.2. Once the current has dropped to 10% of the original the charger is meant to stop the charge. People tend to call this a constant current followed by a constant voltage charge. They then wonder how the charger can decide when to switch modes. All the charger does is to charge to 4.2v at a limited current. To keep the volts below 4.2 it has to reduce the current. No mystery.

In theory...... but in practice you'll be running the PSU at pretty much 100% capacity under those circumstances, which unless its a decent one that is actually rated to what it really is, could be pushing your luck.Originally posted by millerman View Postits a 13.8v power supply that will supply 15amps if you multiply them together you get your 200watts well just over
just the correct amount to power the 4 x50watt charger
If it says 200W it's probably better to consider it a 100W PSU.Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
