DX8 rant!!!

If this happens on a blank model memory (to remove any chance of a mixing issue) then you wouldn't be alone based on a quick Google around the web.

Looks like a few people have reported what looks like a dodgy pot on the rudder channel.

I've not seen anything so far that would suggest that this is widespread given the numbers sold, but it does seem to exist

Just had a look over my 600,nothing out of the ordinary although when i wiggled the temetry wires near the unit i got a low temp warning which is -17c lol,i did find that the clear key gets rid of the warning screen

I have put some heatshrink over all the mini connectors and will try it again tomoz

Really happy with mine, but a fellow club member ended up with a smashed model due to the range issue.

I had an issue similar to this about a month after I started using it. The rudder channel would change the output drastically as the collective was moved up and down. I sent it back and within 3 days it was back with a new rudder/throttle gimbal fitted. Has been ok for many many hours of use since. Mine was also a first batch kit, so that's 3 I know of now to have had this problem from that batch!

My DX8 started doing exactly the same. Fortunately the first helicopter I crashed was my MSR; no damage.

The second was a Trex 600 in the living room.... good job it was on Phoenix. <phew>

The monitor screen showed exactly the same symptoms as the original poster. I sent the DX8 to HH on a Thurday via FedEx (they paid); it was back on Monday and has been fine ever since.

I've got one of the first batch of DX8s.

Yeah mine did it, freaked the vbar out no end, fortunately no damage. Had it back within 2 days, but it cost me £8 to send it in as they only wanted to collect it from the retailer which would have cost me £8 in diesel to get it there. It is annoying. Why is the flight pack telemetry useless Gareth, I haven't bothered using the telemetry yet?

I bought my DSX9 when they were first released and although i did have to do the small mod on the wiring for the right pot i can honestly say that from day one i have had absolutely no problems at all with reliability which gives me great confidence in the system when i'm flying.
Reliability is top of my list when it comes to radio gear (for obvious reasons) and i give the DSX9 10/10 on that score.
If you want a stress and hassle free future with your radio, get yourself a JR. It may be more expensive than some other similar radios but i figure it's already saved me a bundle by leaving it entirely up to pilot error to do all the crashing
