    I can't imagine any shop agreeing to that, and I wouldn't ask.

    The combo is at a discounted price to the sum of its components. Extending your logic, they should be paying you to take servos off their hands (ie combo kit price minus full price of side frame, minus the full price of other side frame, minus full price of main shaft, minus the full price of every other individual compent..)

      I have parts from split kits, but the store in question did call me to check if this was alright. I think a simple phone call would have put this to bed.

        whether the servo is from a split combo deal or not is should be still 'new'. the OP is saying the servo looks used... I think that's the main issue here.

        Certainly worth calling the shop to see what they have to say for themselves.

        The problem being that you cannot prove you haven't plugged it into an RX yourself as it's not in the un-opened original packaging. So the shop might think your trying to pull a fast one by sending them back an old servo for them to replace with a new one.
