Warning! Dont buy from HobbyKing if you expect warranty support

i have ordered batts from hobbyking, and it takes fair a while for them to arrive (about 3 - 4 weeks but it is christmas )but i must admit i have had no problems as yet, i am waiting for some more to arrive now, should be this week as its been about 3 weeks now since i ordrered

This is similar to Kieth at Robbe Schluter ! I have had my standard Align 70a ESC pack up. On returning it to Kieth he reckoned that there were some minor scaratches on the outside of the case and a tiny little dent, on opening the ESC up one half of one of the chips were broken off and he reckons this was my fault. He refused to replace the item and told me he has to send it back to Align for further inspection ! Despite telling him that the heli has never been crashed and it just stop working when I went to use another battery !
Along the grapevine I have heard Im not the only person to return a standard ESC to them, some taking as long as 3 months to sort out. And you go on about HobbyKing when we get this sort of service here too lol !

Did you buy the ESC directly from Robbe Schluter? If not your contract is with the retailer, not the importer. On the single occasions we have had problems with items purchased from both Midlands and Fast Lads, the issue has been addressed immediately by them directly.

There are some 1st class dealers supporting this hobbie in this country, who we should all buy from, so what if it costs a few quid more, there are some right tight arsed people about who get off on saving a couple of quid, I think its good when things like this happen thanks for the thread.

I sometimes will get the odd item from china direct, but only via a uk based company who is allready importing from china! (well coverd )

Its a long story but it came from Robbe direct as the last one blew up as well which they replaced 10 flights ago. Howvever I have since brought a Kontonik 100LV to replace it as I had to wait 2 months the last time I had a problem with it ! I said I wouldnt by another Align becuase of this issue with the importer (not the shop) !

they aren't identical to the E-flite ones, slightly darker and harder plastic.

I use them on the 450, cheap and cheerful. I probably wouldn't take the risk on any more expensive heli, though.
On the Deans clones, the gold plating wears through rather quickly.

...just had a quick tot-up and it's over £3K I've spent with hobbyking since I started flying. I've had one dud battery and a few that didn't last very long...

It's all part of 'the game'... I'm also bluntly about saving cash when I can and despite the ocassional dud it's been well worth it. Most deliveries come in a few days, sometimes it's a couple of weeks and sometimes it's customs delays...

I suppose I could start selling on my unused stuff and try and make a profit..some how always add a few things that looked fun and never got around to using....

Hi dave .Realy sorry to hear about the grief you've had .I have used one of their esc's before and altough not the best it was ok.In my planks i have hi-model,scorpion,and the best of the bunch hacker but jp energ are a pretty good one and also i have not had any problems with stuff from hobbie king. hope i dont

Platinum member here too............... I mainly buy motors, esc's, lipos, chargers, accessories etc etc mainly for hacks with the exception of the lipos which i purchase all from here. 50 odd orders to date, only one fault touch wood. Did take a few weeks to resolve and regular chasing but resulted in a refund............ if i price up what i have saved over the years its probably funded a fair bit of the hobby in savings alone............ Always pay paypal just to be safe............ Nothing against the uk shops of course but at the end of the day budget only stretches so far if you can stretch further then all the better plus have had a few bad experiences with uk suppliers probably more than offshore suppliers if im honest............

Average delivery for me has been about 12 working days with the exception of ordering from the euro warehouse. Ordered Sunday recieved Thursday, cant fault that really.

Is this directed towards me? I think if you check what my son and I have spent supporting the UK hobby (not hobbie!!) dealers, we have gone a long way towards keeping them away from being affected by the recession!

It was not directed at anybody here, my old fishing mate was as tight as a drum with his money, always wanting a deal and a few quid off anything he bought, but the funny thing was he run his own business, and always expected top dollar for the job and would complain like hell if some tight arse wanted to knock his price down, I thought his thinking a little messed up, for some reason he could not work out, if we want the going rate for our services then we should also pay the going rate for other peoples services, otherwise it all falls down and we all suffer....
