Dont trust the HobbyKing reviews! I posted a negative review on the ESC, and guess what - it is not there! They obviously filter the reviews posted, and don't show the one that tell the truth if the product is cr*p!

Not true, i know a good few products that i've moved away from because the review diddnt suit me ! and were 90% negative towards the product.

Moving then to the next one in the list that most of the above recommend anyway and its been suitable.

They do show the negative reviews - but if the above post is anything to go by the probably moderated it for language !

There are some 1st class dealers supporting this hobbie in this country, who we should all buy from, so what if it costs a few quid more, there are some right tight arsed people about who get off on saving a couple of quid, I think its good when things like this happen thanks for the thread.

Who urinated on your battery? I am not looking for any sympathy for my stupidity in buying cheap HK rubbish! I posted my experience to warn others! FWIW, I ordered the ESC for an electric plane. It will now be replaced with a Castle Creations one, which were out of stock at Fast Lads, hence my moment of madness in ordering from HK.

Well I've got 2 of those ESCs working fine in 2 EDF Jets. I've just bought and received another pair, but have yet to test them. Fingers crossed!

                      Hey Morgan

I'm sorry to hear about your problems. It's plain sickening when this kind of thing happens and I really don't see any reason why you should feel like you asked for it
by shopping overseas, either in China or anywhere else. In fact, the only time that I had a problem with overseas suppliers (the penny-ha'penny item simply never arrived) it was from a US outfit so you really can't tell.

I've had a few shipments from HongKong (including HobbyKing once), in one case with a relatively high-value item, and I've been lucky, never having had any significant problem apart from lengthy delivery times. On the other hand, some things have turned-up after just 4/5 days on a standard delivery.

Is there no way to send the thing back cheap-rate? I admit that I haven't a clue what standard postal rates are like from here to HK? But I mean, rather than write it off, would it be worth the stamps and a plea to the supplier's buddha-nature? (B.T.W. no offence meant to anyone by this remark, it's simply a vaguely analogous concept to christian charity, for all I know they could be catholics or atheists?)

Anyway, I won't compound your hurt with hindsight, I just hope (like everyone else who has replied) that you get a result in the end.

                      Best wishes,
                      Rich.

well, I am one of them. I buy where it's cheap, period. I can't afford any illusions of "supporting my local hobby shop" - total nonsense in my book, we're talking about doing business, not welfare activities.

And frankly, the concept of the typical shop here in Finland is based on overpriced RTF cr*p, squeezing every last cent out of a customer that is expected to return three times for spare parts before giving up. They deserve no sympathy. Brushed motors, anybody?

In future, batteries will be all we will be getting as well (via Shaun (Bart101)s HK account - I have told them to take a hike. Are the ec connectors original products, or some cheap knock-off?

Is this directed towards me? I think if you check what my son and I have spent supporting the UK hobby (not hobbie!!) dealers, we have gone a long way towards keeping them away from being affected by the recession!
