  • Dx8 recall

took my dx8 to pen models today with a problem, the aileron was jumping all over the place, then they told me that all dx8 with the code ending in 009x and 008x were being recalled, its something to do with the timer alarm when it vibrates fault.

      Here you go

      DX8 System with AR8000 + TM1000 No SX MD2 Bulletins

While adjusting a servo's Travel Adjust value in the Servo Setup screen, if the clear button is depressed, both the value and the channel's reversing will reset to their default values of 100% and normal.
This reset could cause an unsafe condition if unnoticed, particularly if the channel has been reversed on the throttle.
Click Here to register your DX8 and download the latest updates

Recently, the Horizon Hobby Service Center has received a small number of reports from customers claiming un-commanded servo movements and loss of RF link during the activation of the vibrator motor in some DX8’s from the initial shipment.
Horizon requests that all DX8 customers with the Product ID (PID) HS008X or HS009X found in the battery compartment carefully check their radios to determine if their transmitter has this issue prior to flying.

Transmitters with a PID other than HS008X or HS009X are not affected by this bulletin.

If you have a DX8 with the affected PID, please perform the following test.
      • Step 1: If your model is electric, unplug motor leads from ESC for safety.
      • Step 2: In the function list, select Timer Screen and set a 0:10s Count Down timer to Tone/Vibe.
      • Step 3: With model powered on and connection established, activate timer and observe servos for un-commanded movement and receiver for loss of RF link.

Should you find that your transmitter is affected by this issue, please contact your nearest Spektrum authorized service center to arrange for a free upgrade to your DX8 performed by a Horizon Hobby authorized Technician.
      • Click here to complete the Spektrum DX8 Return Request form.
      • You may also e-mail the Horizon Hobby Product Support team. Please type "DX8 Return Request Form" in the subject line.
Please include your shipping address, daytime phone number, and PID code from your Spektrum DX8 transmitter. Click here to e-mail Product Support.
      • Horizon will pay for all ground shipping.
      • If you have further questions, please call Horizon Hobby Product Support at
        877-504-0233.
      • Consumers outside the US and Canada should contact their local retailer or distributor. A list of International distributors may be found at: www.horizonhobby.com/StoreLocator.
      • As with all RC aircraft, please check your transmitter and equipment prior to each flight.
      • Horizon Hobby and the Spektrum team apologize for this inconvenience.

Mine is a HS009X model and have been using different combo's of the alarms for both timing and telemetry without issue thankfully. Reading between the lines not all DX8's need to be returned just those that demonstrate any funnies.

I would guess 90% of those affected would already have found this with the model inexplicably throwing itself into the ground the hard way.

Mine has the sticker HS009X but does not show this problem with the tests
When I checked my serial number it starts HC009X so maybe the sticker isnt the way to tell what your model is

It is on the USA website :
Already posted into No 2 in the thread

Just no sign of HH here saying anything as yet. Be a real pain if this has to go back as my 12FG just went to a new home today. I was flying today without any sign of anything amiss.

I fitted the SpeKtrum 4000MHa lipo into mine and you have to be very carefull the way you support it in the battery box to prevent it pushing against the plug. (the Lipo foam spacer was supplied with the TX in its box (L shaped black Foam) Very surprised no one else has commented on this. You also need to remove the rubber backing behind the battery as the Lipo is thicker.

Your post had the details but not the link to the actual article on the site so it seemed worth adding.
