A good outcome I reckon.

Does the 'sale of goods' act not apply to this hobby??

The retailer in question was Midland, and like I said earlier, I am very happy with the way it was resolved, and will remain a customer of Midland (if they will have me!).
I still maintain that my actions would not necessarilly move the burdon of proof from retailer to me, but I considered the general concensus on here that my sanding of the ring muddied the waters as far as proving prior defects, and the fact that I felt sorry for the position Midland were put in by their own supplier. This softened my stance and I think the outcome was very good and shows a lot of good will from Midland.
I didn't go 'hammer and tongs' at the ring by the way, it really was very very light, and it was done with the best of intentions.
Cheers,
AndrewLife's a bitch and then you fly!!

Good to see its been sorted out, though in future it may be better to be a bit more up front about anything done to any faulty item that may effect how situations like this are viewed.
Glad I'm not running YS engines....Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

No higher than the other big storesOriginally posted by gashead View PostMidland pricing is a bit on the high side compared to others, but this is made up for by the best custumer service from any rc retailer imo, that is why i continue to use Midlands all the time.
The guys at Midlands are a great bunch and when there new website is live they will certainly be a force to be reckoned with.Originally posted by gorber View PostThe retailer in question was Midland, and like I said earlier, I am very happy with the way it was resolved, and will remain a customer of Midland (if they will have me!).
Good result for you in the end and well done to Midlands for the action they have taken in helping a a customer.

Agreed 100%, all credit to them for stepping up like this.Originally posted by Jamin_00 View PostThe guys at Midlands are a great bunch and when there new website is live they will certainly be a force to be reckoned with.
I'll be ordering from them once the new site is up for sure, but not until then though as I've been disappointed too often when stuff is out of stock.

I deal with people that I don't *need* to phone up. That's part of the point of buying over the Internet. As is buying 24*7.Originally posted by Jamin_00 View PostIts only takes a quick phone call
While we're broadening the issue, how does Sale Of Goods, etc apply to closing down sales ?
If the retailer is going out of business, does it effectively mean the customer has no come-back if a product is defective ?Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...

No substitue for having a website that shows stock, I don't have time to phone during the day, the majority of my orders are made in the late evenings, on a Sunday or when I'm not even in the same country or time-zone.Originally posted by Jamin_00 View PostIts only takes a quick phone call
So while I fully repsect the quality of service that Midlands can deliver I will give my business to those who have the ability to show what is really in stock.
I don't want to take this thread further off topic nor do I wish to reduce the credit that Midlands are due for the way they handled the problem described in this thread, but as an example my last attempted order from them was for an item where the description had been changed on their site to read 'now in stock' and of course when I ordered it I found out a couple of days later it in fact wasn't ...

I'd say HH motive's are more to do with protecting their name - the last thing they want is someone, or worse more than one person crashing a model not realising they've damaged their rx then having a second crash that is due to radio failure and ranting all over the forums about how DSM sucks.Originally posted by J-S-Q View PostI have had exactly the same experience with Horizon on two occasions -old receiver smashed up by myself in a crash and they fixed it for free and sent it back in double quick time. Pretty exceptional service I'd say. Have to agree that most other companies fall miles short of this though.Matthew
