Fastlads sell braiding. All you do is thread the servo wire through by coompressing the braid to make it shorter and bigger in diameter then release and it will shrink back to its original shap. once done slap some heatshrink on both ends to tidy it up. Braiding a servo wire, Done!Goblin 700

You don't have to as long as the braiding is large enough to slide over them. Just be careful when shrinking the heats shrink on as the wires are thin and the terminals can deform with the heat!!Originally posted by challis349 View Postdo you have to take the servo plug off? fastlads dont sell black, its all black plus another colour
If you have a Maplins near to you then take a look as they sell a pack of either black or blue braided sleeving (I think there are about 4 different sizes in the pack) along with assorted sizes of heat shrink tubing for about a tenner. That's what I bought and still use from time to time.

I've bought it from maplins, if you leave the servo plugs on and use the 'compress the braid to make it shorter and bigger in diameter' method I find once you've cut the braid to length heating the cut ends so they melt a little stops them from fraying whilst your threading it over the servo plugs, the heat shrink over both ends once it's fitted.

What size heatshrink did you get that would slip over the connectors?
I was thinking of trying my old Hellerman sleeving tool, if I can find the damn thing.

Just did some measuring.
From lead extender plug
7.91 x 2.78 > 21.38 > dia 6.8mm
From lead extender socket
10.09 x 3.94 > 28.06 > dia 8.93mm
3 strand ribbon cable 4.5mm wide
From that, 10mm dia heatshrink should slide over OK and shrink to 5mm dia
So, in theory, 10mm should be the minimum size to use without removing the connectors.
12mm should be quite comfortable also.
From my work in audio I've found that those locking tangs on the connector pins can break once you've messed with them so I'd prefer to avoid the removal method.
One COULD cut and crimp new ones on but that's getting into a lot of potch for the sake of a tidy end to one's braiding.
I'll really have to go search for that Hellerman tool. (Thingy with 3 prongs on it for stretching non shrink sleeving)
Spiral wrap is looking more attractive by the minute .
