I use a fabric material that is sticky on one side on a roll like cellotape so all I do is start at 1 end and work my way up the wire.

Because its on a roll there is no limitation on the size wire you can do, no messing around with taking plugs off etc etc it just goes straight on and you can do ALL your wires, ESC, servos, motors anything

It comes in a 15m roll

No messing with tools, flames, nothing just stick on and go

i cut mine to length (5mm longer than needs to be)then use a cigerette lighter to slightly melt/fuse the ends together, dont hold the flame directly over the braid just close enough to fuse the braiding together as its a nightmare as it has a tendency to unwind itself.

Maplin also do a roll of clear coiled transparent cable protector just put your servo wires together & use length of coil to wrap very easy & looks tidy.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

You need to heat it more so it nearly blobs.. if it does you can tidy it up carefully with scissors...

I dont bother.. i just shrink wrap over the frayed ends.. which also gives it a flusher finish when the heat shrink holds tight, instead of having a slight bobble from the melted braid

Not the braid mate, just the heatshrink.. I get the braid and slide the cut length of heatshrink to the middle of the braid... then just fiddle with the end of the braid so its all kinda tight/flush with the wire... then slide the heatshrink from the middle over the end of the braid and then heat it down with a hairdryer (not lighter or naked flame).. I find this gives it a very decent finish without accidentally burning the heatshrink or the unsightly braid bobble underneath the heatshrink

Are you using the loom tape just on the ends of the braid or instead of the braid completely?

Depends, if its visible then I use the loom tape.

Or if the wire needs protecting I would use the loom tape.
