My work colleague was flying planes from about 2005 or so and at the time we had a big office space and he would have these very large crates shipped to the office with big WW2 planes in them. I kept seeing these crates and plane kits and engines etc.
Then what really got me drawn into it was seeing RealFlight G3 and how you could learn a lot of the basics on the sim before risking the real thing, this was sometime in 2007. It wasn't until toward the end of 2007 I got my first heli, a 3DX 450 (which I still have) and then spring of 2008 I got a Raptor 30.
(somewhere in there I had a Hirobo Shuttle but I never flew it because once I got the Raptor that's all I flew for almost a year)
