Personally i think its a crying shame that CSM are not regarded better and more widely used than they are, Especially in the UK! Reasons are a plenty and need no genius to work out why that is.
Products made by home grown talent, who can be regarded as some of if not the most knowledgeable and experienced people in the industry deserve to be at the top of the tree!
Collin Mills the "godfather" of modern gyros has given this hobby an enormous amount, the thing is most people are oblivious to that fact when there flying there far eastern cheap as chips tech proclaiming it to be the best thing ever!
As i said a real shame.

I'm looking forward to getting a 720 myself for the piro consistency which sadly is seriously lacking from the "other" gyro thats currently regarded as the "best".

There governors are just awesome! if your after buying one then get a CSM you will be very happy indeed, yet to try the 40 with pitch management and accelerometer but its next on the list i know Ashley and many other highly rate it so there must be something in it hey!

Keep up the good work CSM you get my vote

Hate me for what I've said but I'm being truthfull

CSM and Spartan both have world class Gyro's this is not in doubt. I myself have both brands and have owned CSM gyro's since the CSM 360 days.

Both the above have advantages over the other but this is neither here nor there.

Whats killed the Gyro market is the exponential rush to go FBL and both companies have slipped on Poo big time by not getting a FBL product to market in time.

At this point Re-Casing a 720 is a bit pointless and going to offer little in return as the Horse has already bolted. FBL is here to stay.

      Other Products.
Already we are seeing combined systems coming to market Gov, Gyro, Mixture, FBL, pitch control, etc whereby you just add a Satalite Rx. This is the future and its here now and unless both Companies up there game trouble is ahead.

Honestly there is little point in saying we have the best X gyro as no matter how good it is, its going to be History in a very short period of time as everyone will be installing complete electronics packages.

NHP Blades, yes I've had a few of these to over the years (to many to count) and whilst they where the blade of choice 10 years ago things move on. The construction, design and development has been neglected and even the Agressor range IMHO is a bit old hat. Its almost as if the design brief is 5+ yrs behind current trends.

Admittedly a blade designers brief is a compromise, but updating once every 5-10 years is pointless. The last 5 yrs weve wanted, retaining wires for the weights, wider chord, stiffer, un-stepped Blade Roots, more aggressive C&G, low drag, visibility.

Right NOW its a Neutral C&G for FBL use combined with good bite and low Drag.

Current Tail Blades on offer are to fat and draggy, also heavy aggravating tail Hub and brg limitations.

Hate me for what I've said but I'm just being truthfull and just maybe someone will pick up on this before its to late.

Thats pretty much bang on, BUT, its going to be interesting to see what CSM and Spartan can come up with, especially with the pressure they'll be under, HOWEVER, that can actually work to their advantage, they can see whats out on the market and see what people complain about in other fbl units, and make sure that when the do bring something else to the market it doesnt fall foul of those problems, in a way this is kind of what Futaba did though maybe not completely intentionally with their later introduction of their 2.4 system.

Also lets not pretend it doesnt happen, by being late to the party you get to buy the other manufacturers system, and take it apart and see what they've done, though i'm sure Colin Mill or Angelo wouldn't copy stuff outright (very easy to get yourself into trouble doing that.... unless your buisness is in china ) they may take some inspiration from whats out now, hell everyone did that to CSM with heading hold anyway, and it happens in every other industry.... cars, cpus, fighter jets, tin openers etc etc, they're all trying to see how the other guy has done what he's done and then improve on it, or at least bring their version of it out.

        I wouldn't discount them yet.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Sorry i cant see gyros been useless any time that only rings true if the entire hobby went FBL personally i cant see that happening any time soon sure there is going to be a split presence between FBL and Flybar helis but i very much doubt FBL will take over completely. I know ill be sticking to the flybar.

I think there are still alot of people not bothered about FBL, i've given it a go but didn't much like it and am much happier back to ordainary flybars for now.
I have heard from lots of people that the 720 is the gyro to have but never tried one, maybe one day will give one a go

Barney... you should have your say and this thread isnt about saying csm is the best etc...no its about bringing csm back into conversation just for a short while.

moonmanflyer(james)you can have a go with ours when we meet up,this is what we did with grant and then he was converted to csm.

As for flybarless systems, stefan has been flying with beast x and yeah its fantastic and stefan enjoys the system,BUT back to back at the moment stefan flys the flybarred helicopter alot better.so its horses for courses
and something to mess around with

YEAH csm gyro's have plug in leads making the system bigger than some gyro, but in a crash these simply unplug and save the gyro, ive heard horror stories about leads been ripped from the gyro(gy520)and it been unrapairable(expensive)so csm has it benefits too..

also csm have unmatched after sales service. we love the futaba gy520 but ripmax wouldnt be much good for advice would they.csm and especially rob at csm are super

              cheers craig

Non sponsored pilot, but I use CSM as much as possible, for two reasons

                1) British company !!!!
                2) Good service and quality products.

On my rex 700LE I have a CSM720 Gyro (BLS251) with a CSM Revlock 30 Governor and a CSM Carb smart.

All work fantastic and the tail is so locked in !!

I found mounting the gyro on the original pads just didn’t work, the sponge was way to soft .

Putting Futaba pad, metal plate and then Futaba pad again worked perfect for me !!!!

On my rex 500 CSM 720 again with a align tail 620 servo, good set up aswell,

just 1 Futaba pad on electric.

It is a fair size now compared with other products on the market,

but im more after substance not cosmetic looks and I will not change it !!!!

Great products, no problems here !!

I just ran across a couple articles that are very good and well worth a look if you're interested in how this stuff works.

The first is a very good overview of helicopter flight and flybars etc. written by Colin Mill of CSM.

The second is by Nigel Fraser Ker about how gyros work and contains considerable mention of CSM and the first HH gyro etc.
