Winter will be the E test imo, but after seeing a few Srimok E's now I wouldnt hesitate in swapping out my nitros for one.

Don't think we've see this one before as 12S E Heli have only come on the market this year really
Whats really helping people is the cost of pack from HK over UK Prices
Even if you were to only 50 flight from your pack I'd say it would cost less long term over Nitro.
Some good points here. Electric is definately becoming more popular and accessable. 12s is definately interesting.

i've tried the leccy thing and the conversion from nitro to leccy has now got an os50 back in it
(i think you can work out what heli)

but heres the pic with the os50 back and fbl

before the leccy fans give me a bashing
i've got an old morley with an electric conversion and it flies far better than when they are nitro powered

and i don't think the 450 would be very good nitro powered

Were you on 6S, if so yep flight times etc would be better as a Nitro.

The key now for 90E heli etc is HV it the way forward as far as i'm aware some have gone 15S already.

              yes 6s
flight times wasn't that bad, i was limited to the motor due to the mount
but the biggest problem was i only got 20 cycles out of the cells
              2x3s in series
all four pairs lasted the same, they were never run down to much and always balance charged @ 1c
and flight power lipo's aren't that cheap

i converted it to fly at mt field at home as it isn't fair to the neighbours to run nitro, but the leccy made just as much noise only a different pitch to the sound

Yup..cold lipos on frosty mornings and worse when folk start charging them at weird temperature changes.. there's a,limit to how many 12S you can shove down your pants to keep warm and still keep a believable bulge (and if they do short down there then watch the new 'pilot shuffle'

Personally, back when I was 17 (all those 6 years ago lmao) when I was just hovering a 450 HDE in the street, I thought I'd never go nitro. Now it's all I want to fly. I take lipo safety very seriously but they still scare me. The cost and thought of a 12S pack going up in flames assure me I will likely never go to such a large E setup.

Perhaps maybe when I move out and can turn the garage into a true workshop and set a charge station up or something, we'll see. Right now, I'm still just getting used to nitro and frankly loving it

A slightly different slant to this thread and not trying to hijack either - I always believed in ELECTRIC, used only electric and have done so for the last 20+ years. It's good to see that electric helis/ fixed wings have become so popular now.... And I firmly believe that we'll go that way with our real cars as well..

Nano technology in battery + A123 System are good indicators too.

                      Here is to Electric

(Hope it does not open up another can of worm... I haven't written this in that spirit)
