  • Kinda ****ed how things are going for me

    Hi Guys

Many who I've made friends with know of my situ' and spine issues, but lately it's been effecting just about everything, my flying had been coming on great, flying in all orientations even doing light acrobatics not 3D style of course.

But my health probs are getting to the point where its virtually halting everything I do inc my flying which I love the most, fixed wing hasn't the thrills Heli's have for me and I get bored with it after a while, but flying my Heli's is whats the problem with the amount of gear needed in the field, setting up, not to mention concentrating while standing for short periods while a battle is going on inside you which you try and blank out, which is easier said then done.

It's been over four weeks since I last went flying, I seem to reach a level then loose my thumb sticks due to lack of flying and training.

At times it almost makes me think about selling up and just giving up completely, basically I just wanna know if anyone else has been in or is in my kinda situ' or any words of advise people may have as TBH I'm becoming pretty low over the whole show.

Thanks guys sorry it wasn't a more happier post

It's a b*gger when disability interferes with your fun isn't it.

How are you with the sitting position?

I have standing/walking issues as well.
I'm thinking of taking a swivel chair to the field and see how I get on with that.

Have to sort out a new vehicle first though.
Old van died a few months ago.
Torn between buying my mates old LT35 (with wood burner) or an estate, Mondeo sort of thing.

Thinking of one of these for the bit between vehicle and destination.

Sorry to hear things are not too good Wayne and I hope things get better. Is it possible for you to fly whilst sitting and how much gear do you actually "need" to take to the field as opposed to how much you want to take. It may be a case of a little change can make the difference for you and get you flying more often.
Whatever the case best of luck, and dont give up

Do you fly nitro? Why not try electric , a lot less gear needed! Have you spoken to doc about the depression? Maybe they can help.

            Good luck

Wayne .... I have gone through the same with my disease and have long periods where I have been too ill to go out and fly or just side effects from drugs I have been on have made it impossible for me to do anything but nip to the field and just do slow hovering. Stick with it m8e ... If it was not for the likes of Tim and the Stainburn crew and the Captain Crash lot and alot of the others on here I would have packed in already .. TBH staying in the hobby is the best thing these guys could have advised me to do ...The social side of these things when I can travel far outways my flying ability and TBH it aint a race it is a hobby at the end of the day ..It's about enjoyment so keep your stuff m8e and just fly when you feel like it

Wayne, as others have said is sitting an option? I live just along the road in Ely and fly at the Fenland model club in Witcham most weekends (usually 8am for a few hours). I would happily come on over to chatteris sometimes and give you a hand getting everything to the field and helping set up if that would help you out at all?

A couple of guys I shoot with have mobility problems and use a Shooting stick at each stand, its kinda sitting and standing at the same time, I imagine it would be quite useful at a flying peg too if you want to sit but like to stand?!!!

                          Wayne

I am afraid I cannot offer any useful advice, as I just have the 'ordinary' back and joint issues associated with playing rugby and getting older, but I can extend my best wishes to you and hope you can find a way through the pain and discomfort and be able to continue to enjoy your hobby.

This is what I was thinking. A 'big 450', Tx & LiPos isn't that much to carry; and might be feasible when other options aren't.

                              Hope it gets better.
