Wayne stick with it, I cant believe how many injured and poorly people there are still persisting in this hobby, I was diagnosed with cancer in February and as a self employed joiner I have only in the last month started working for 3 to 4 hours a day, due to the chemo I have very sore hands and run out of energy by lunch time, the loss of energy leaves me lacking in enthusiasm to load the van and travel the 12 miles to the flying site, however I do get a little time to fly my 450 in the back garden ( when I say fly I mean moving along from right to left turning at the end) this does keep me interested enough ready for the end of my treatment when hopefully I can resume full interest again.
I hope you stick with it for the enjoyment and banter with your mates, and wish you all the best for the future.
    All the best STEVE.

      Hi Wayne,

I also fly at the Fenland club with PsiLo (Gerd) and can also offer to help with keeping you in the air.

If you need any help getting yourself or equipment to the field let me know.

I also had a lay off from the hobby (about 4) years and am glad I kept all of my gear and am back in the hobby with even more enthusiasm second time round.

      Hope you stick with it!

I really hope you work it all out Wayne, this is a great hobby with some fantastic guys, if it was our club members would be helping you get to the field and make sure your comfortable enough to at least have a little fly and I am absolutely sure members of your club are no different.

If you have to take a little break from it don't sell al your stuff you will regret it, keep with it mate. I wish you well and hope you can find a way of making it work.
        All the best

Hi Wayne, hope you get sorted mate, one way or another, I reckon a shooting stick or small seat may help a lot. I don't have injury issues so don't know what you're going thru, so can't make an informed comment there. But I would agree with some of the other guys, go back to leccy for a bit, and sit while flying. There's people who fly from Wheelchairs so you should be fine.

Sorry I've not been around, looking at heli sites with no dough was too depressing But soon I'll be back properly hopefully.

Its been good chatting with you again wayne, especially with my partner being in very similar sounding health to you!!! Ive sold up twice and regretted it, so as everyone says, dont sell up!
If finances allow, buy a smaller electric to fly, less equipment and no starting issues, no mess, cheaper to maintain.
Im looking for a nitro, and have the 500 for sale, so theres always a swap possibility if your sure about it.
I found even a small MCX was good fun while unable to get out and fly due to weather/financial problems and kept me interested in the hobby.

I know you mentioned a 'spasm' could eventually cost you your heli, and although most disagree with it, helicommand could help prevent this from happening if your still flying later on... defo worth thinking about.

            Keep smiling

Many who I've made friends with know of my situ' and spine issues, but lately it's been effecting just about everything, my flying had been coming on great, flying in all orientations even doing light acrobatics not 3D style of course.

But my health probs are getting to the point where its virtually halting everything I do inc my flying which I love the most, fixed wing hasn't the thrills Heli's have for me and I get bored with it after a while, but flying my Heli's is whats the problem with the amount of gear needed in the field, setting up, not to mention concentrating while standing for short periods while a battle is going on inside you which you try and blank out, which is easier said then done.

It's been over four weeks since I last went flying, I seem to reach a level then loose my thumb sticks due to lack of flying and training.

At times it almost makes me think about selling up and just giving up completely, basically I just wanna know if anyone else has been in or is in my kinda situ' or any words of advise people may have as TBH I'm becoming pretty low over the whole show.

Thanks guys sorry it wasn't a more happier post

Sorry it's been a while since I've been back to this thread, I kinda didn't want to tempt fate as it were until I got everything in order.

Again guy's your kindness and offers of advise and help is very humbling, it's defo an honor being offered so much, and it very much restores one's faith in Human kindness for sure.

Let me tell you about my better, well much better state of affairs, today has been the first time in ages I've been out to our small club and had four solid flights with my Trex 600, it was kinda windy so the smaller birds were grounded, but my largest machine wasn't fazed a bit.

It was tough, lol, my butt cheeks clenched for the first five minutes while getting used to having a Heli' back in the air never mind my 600, (yes I was well rusty).

But I can honestly say by the end of the third tank - going on to the fourth a little later that "spark" returned in full and I was buzzing again, that high you can't describe to someone who doesn't love this hobby.

I've also brought a new 500esp (as I sold my old one to pay in part for the 600, and regretted it ever since) so I'm well happy on that score, and a new 250SE as the winter months are fast approaching, so our club hall will soon be used and smaller machines are much needed if I want to fly safely indoors.

So yes the break has been tough, if it hasn't been for the weather its been me thats stopped play, but after the longest break I ever want with my flying that drive has really been put into high gear with that cheesy grin you have after your old flying skills (not that I have many) start to surface and slowly take over from your Butt hole clenching with nerves, so today with thanks to my friends at our club who always offer a helping hand has been bloody blinding.

And talking of other good news after my split with my ex of 17 yrs loosing my house and basically everything else inc pride etc back in 2008 I picked up the keys to my new house on Friday just a little place, 3 down, two up as it were, my folks took me in where I've been staying up until now bless them, I certainly couldn't have done it without there help, as with my friends too, so it finally feels like everything is starting to take shape, I even brought new hi fi separates to replace my trusty old Audiolab system that's done very well now approaching 20 years old, lol out of everything for my new home that was my most fun purchase, sod the furniture, bed etc, where the bloody hi fi shop, only second to Inwood models that is.

So after a long break since this thread was first started I feel things are finally taking shape after a very long time, and with the help of others telling me there stories of unfortunate bad luck it helped greatly, in the knowledge that though you'd never wish ill on others, that maybe your own problems aren't quite as bad as some, and your certainly not the only one out there having a rough time of it all.

Many, many kind thanks to everyone, I will be contacting people personally, your kind words played a big part to me not giving up with something I really love, as at the time I would have made one huge mistake and not been where I am now.

                        Thank you guys!!!!
