  • TT50 Pro starting problems

    Hi all

I went to the field after work today to have a quick fly of my Sceadu but had real problems getting the engine to start. It probably took a good minute or so of cranking over before it eventually fired into life, only to die again when I removed the glow start. I know the TT50 doesn't have a great reputation and I have an OS in my Knight, so the Sceadu is stuck with it! When I eventually got it going it ran fine, although it drank a tank a fuel pretty quickly! When I started it again after refueling I had the same problems. It was dripping fuel out of the exhaust when I was cranking it over, but that could just be because it was taking so long. I didn't have another glow plug with me to try but the panel showed that it was drawing plenty of current. Would a weak glow plug cause difficult starting or would I normally notice other problems? The plug has only been used for about an hours flying. Compression should be good because the engine is very new and has only had half a gallon of fuel through it. Can anybody else think of any other possible causes of my starting problems?

    Thanks in advance !!

It's certainly rich, but the engine runs sweetly when it is running. I presume if it was rich enough to cause starting problems I would notice other running problems?

You could tru turning the idle screw in a half a turn? I run two of these engines and once set they are Ok, I laso run 3 Hypers and I find setting is easy on these engines....

Pinch the fuel line while starting.

Turn it over with the starter to get fuel in, then pinch the line untill it fires up.

if u are happy with the way it runs when its started that is.

Thanks to all who replied. I'll have a play tomorrow, starting with a new plug then trying Colin's trick. I'm happy with the way it runs so I'm a little loathed to play with the mixture too much.

            Cheers guys
