It was a wonderful fly, sunshine, light breeze, confidence increasing, some lovely fast 8s with the heli on its side, so I decide to go for my first real proper high stall turns.
It was brilliant, had the heli vertical and stopped, lovely pull outs, great noises, so I decided to go a bit higher and see how far I could drop before pulling out...............
I dopped too far, was unable to pull out and bam- it was like a helicopter explosion as it piled into the ground, bits flying everywhere and the poor heli wimpering and wining on the ground like a wounded animal- the poor tail servo still thought it had a job to do and was whirring away still.
It's that fine line between pushing things and going a bit far- we live and learn I suppose.
It's strange, but I reckon you can feel the time when things are about to start messing up and the hard part is to stop at that point and go back to some easy stuff.
Ah well- it gives me the excuse to buy a couple of beers and spend an evening tinkering.
What a brilliant hobby
