  • Weekend Reports..... how was it for you?

    Well,

Saturday was excellent, went all the way to Hastings to fly at the 1066 club site. Great space, and met up with my mentor Jason.

Had 2 full tanks through my raptor. Practiced hovering in the "T" shape for my A-test and tried my first few 8 shape things.

Hovering was ok actually. but the figure 8's are very tough for me as I keep letting the heli speed up or let it gain too much height, but I'll get it soon

Had a play with the second tank, did a fair bit of nose in (my best thus far) and it felt great

Got a tank through it this afternoon too. Hovering, nose in, flyaway/back, it's all feeling a lot better But I still come home with my hands shaking !!

Best weekend's heli flying so far! I'm well pleased.

Mikey - Legless and nose in !!
    I can hover(ish) - does that count??

    great weekend.

weather wasnt great making the viz and lighting aweful.

however... lost count on the number of flights on the 3d...

its really settling in now. amazing heli. 90 size are redundent. my set moves are coming along quite nicely too i was starting to think i had made a mistake but did some constructive phgoenix time during the week and that has really paid off

more people flew the 3d and all loved it. i think there will be a shortage of 3d's soon!

whilst messing around yesterday got it completly wrong bogged it right down ended up going in..

inverted with not much headspeed or height.

picked it up, checked it over, refuel, fly. didnt even bend the flybar!

then today practising slappers got caught up in a bit of down was and dug the tail in quite hard. again, checked it over, everything straight.. carried on flying!

    damn this heli rocks.

      Good day Saturday
Flew the Raptor and the Baron , a couple of tanks in each, really had some fun, Today, had less time, so after stripping yet another tail drive gear on the Twister 3D, repaired it and had another hover in the garden, went well, so all in all

        Hi,

Great day today for me with the Raptor 50v2 which I bought 2 weeks ago.

Worked on my nose in hover and did a couple of loops and flips while trying to keep the heli inverted as long as I dared...

Really great fun, I love the Rappy 50 and good confidence boost today with nose in/loops.

        Cheers,
        Robin.

Had a good day - Flew the R90 a couple of times and am getting more confident in it now. The C-spec sounds lean sometimes, but it could be the MP2 note.
Banged the R50 round a bit after upping the headspeed to 2k - it had more power and sounded sweeter so I'll leave that set.
Flew a vintage parasol FW around that I've been putting together for nostalgia reasons too and did some training.

All that with an awfull hangover from last night in Cardiff

              Nice work chaps

I went down to Eynsford Heli club (I'm joining in the week) but not to fly. Just to test my repairs.

I repaired my Heli after my brush with mother earth. I had to replace the Feathering spindle, the Fly bar, blades and a double link.

Due to not being able to get the proper size double link I used an approximate replacement and that through the blades off balance, silly LHS has such low stock. I even had to get a flybar from another heli which is actually a half inch shorter than a rappy fly bar but that works ok.

I'll be going to a different model shop in the week to get my parts I think

Well had about a gallon a a half on the Knight; no wind but cloudy.

                    Flys like its on rails.

I think the one way bearing in the clutch ihas gone as its a bugger to turn over.... some time it does and sometimes it doesn't.

Apart from that it ws a great weekend.

                      Fan-bloody-tastic!

I took both the Millenniums up the field yesterday having changed the clutch in the 90 and the tail hub in the 70 version. All problems sorted. No more binding (the old one must have been fatigued/stretched) in the 90 and much tighter tail in the 70 version.

Took the old trusty horse Sceadu up the field today and the virgin Airskipper. Had one good thrash about the sky with the Sceadu where it did a bit of an odd tail thing just for a fraction of asecond right near the end of the flight. Then went onto maiden voyage of the Airskipper - what a machine. I'm over-joyed with it. It's all I expected of a JR heli and loads more. Did 3 tanks 'running-in' with the Airskipper and then went for one more final flight with the Sceadu. I turned it on, and had no tail at all! Turns out that there's a dodgy connection in the back of the servo (9254) - wiggle the wire and it comes back to life. All I can say is, the first flight of the afternoon was lucky, very lucky.

I'll by 2 lottery tickets this week.

I did the 1.5 hour trek to DMHC and on the first flight (third ever) of the Knight 3D I lost the bold that holds the carb on so that was the end of that - till Ade lent me his bolt and proceeded to loose a V paddle with about 3 mins usage but did get some great shots of Ades Knight.

Flew the Funtana and realised why I don't fly planks - just too dull, tried to crash it but failed then managed to pull the wheels off on landing for the second time, now for sale.

So the hero of the day was the good old Trex 600, 7 flight and no dramas fantastic helis, when the tail holds together.

... oh and the heating packd up in the car on the way home.

Well I trundled along to the CAMFC field near Biggin Hill to take a look at their site... great bunch of chaps, and I had a bigger space to tame the Trex in. It was my first time flying with a bit of wind (other than hovers) but it seemed to be very different.. I was expecting to be blown around a bit!

Thanks to Nutz as well for leting me in to the secret of tic-toc pitch control.... nearly got three in a row on Phoenix! Now if only it was as easy as that in real life

So thats three people off here I have met in real life now

Still not convinced on that messy nitro stuff yet
