One massive benefit from keeping the 'bung' style connector to put your wand in, is that when the Dynatrons switch decides to weld together and your wand is ever so slightly not true....

..... it wont bend the ****ing shaft of the Dynatron as you panic in how to turn the thing off!

        Bye 60 quid!

Why don't you just grind a flat surface/spot on the shaft, then tighten your screw against the flat surface, much much easier than drilling the shaft and you don't have to be as accurate!

There is no thread on the k&s shaft, and there is no where near enough material to make any.

The hole was spot on and that wasnt the problem, I imagine it has weakend the shaft but it was fine until it welded.

..and Ripmax dont import spares to repair it.

                starter

Not being sarciastic but i thought the sullivan was the best available starter on the market, pretty much bulletproof for years.?I am in the market for a decent starter and was pretty much sold on that combo over the align but....

It is, but seriously... I can break anything

Just the switch is wank, 24v is a bit OTT imo.

My mate just broke his new motor shaft, with a K&S wand, with two 12v car batteries in series for on 24 volts.

All before trying to start his 27cc gasser.

You can get replacements but you have to import them from the US, pointless after you have paid import duty etc.

Might work mine on the lathe, take the thread off, machine it straight then see what shim to use...

...then realise it wont work and buy a new one

Mine has been fitted with 2 pack... its not coming off..

Just a thaught... beware if you use a power panel and its glow start. If you dont insulate the starter shaft from the starter you can end up with 12v across the glow plug...and it dies.... the bolt through the shaft will help you with this... using a 2 in 1 or little glow stick avoids this problem.... its only an issue using the glow drive in a power panel thats the same supply as teh starter..

                            Looks like im not the only one;

fitted the new starter wand ! drilled the hole in the shaft, cut the shaft every thing all lined up spot on
went for a start on my new raptor 90 (os 91szh) first on 12volt no way next 24volt spun the engine over no problem then the curse of the dynatron struck ! the contact welded shut ! so there is the starter spining flat out ! pulled it out of the starter cup on the heli out of harms way starer shaft sining flat out so i try to pull the lead of one of the batterys but not before the output shaft of my dynation got bent with all that spining mass of the k&s starter wand !one knacked 12 week old starter motor
                            not a happy chap

I've had mine for well over 2 years now, and its great. The switch has stuck on the odd occasion, but nothing that a quick sideways squeexe on the switch hasnt sorted out. I would also never spin it up without it either being engaged in the starter hex or without me steadying the end of the shaft, for this very reason; i wouldn't want a starter shaft flailing around!
