I'm sorry. Isn't cross dressing the norm on this forum? Next you'll be telling me I'm the only one who flies in womens clothes!!!

By the way, and back on subject. The BMFA recomend that you dont fly in anything above 25mph.

I know bugger all about helis but 15 years jumping off perfectly good boats teaches you a thing or two about the weather.

From what people are saying it sounds like F2 to F3 is about the max for the smaller helis and that is roughly what I thought it would be. Basically if you can feel a breeze on your face it's about F2. If you can hear the leaves on the trees, about F3. Add about F1 for moving from an urban area to an open field and another F1 for gusting.

is this just from experiance..Is it somthing like if tops of trees are moving it is about ....MPH
Once you see the top branches of a tree moving it's about F4 to F5.

we have some tall trees I can see from my window I think from now on if they are moving at the top then I wont fly..in june when I get my Trex 500 maybe I can push it a bit more
The really bad news is that between the weather fronts, we get lighter winds in the Winter. The prevailing wind picks up in April when the Gulf stream kicks in and is a fairly consistent F3-F4, through to the storms of the September Equinox. It then goes back to the big unpredictable fronts of Winter but with the calmer periods in between.

This is what we get for living at a high Latitude. On the bright side, the Gulf stream keeps the temperature a lot warmer than it should be, but we pay the price for that in wind and rain.

I hope you like early mornings

            Thanks for the info msssltd
Seems to be early mornings and late summers nights are the best times to fly.

Really I am looking forward to the summer
