    get wife interested

just tell her your gonna get your chopper out up the field, and you need someone to hold it until it gets warmed up!
that should do the trick .
if not tell her you will take her shopping after.

My wife, bless her, bought me the heli, but she's not at all interested. She came to the field once, and after I'd flown ONE battery said "Is that it? Can we go now? I'm bored"

Well, I often wonder what people that find it boring are doing in their spare time that is so much more interesting / exciting / mind-expanding, etc.

But I suppose I could look back myself to the time before I got into helis.

For me it probably really all started when I was like 5 years old and my grandmother would take my brother and I to the airport for a day out and we could spend hours just watching planes take off and land (this was a small town airport with mostly piston and turboprop light planes and small commercial).

So I suppose when my work colleague got into RC planes, some involvement was inevitable.

my wife is happy for me to do the hobby

she likes to get involved in choosing the colour schemes of my planes and heli's, hence why my Raptor is Pink !!

she does come and watch now and again, especially if i'm flying with my dad, her and my mum will sit in a couple of deck chairs and chat away,
but she has no interest in flying herself

Because my Dad wanted my Mum to go up with him he talked her into doing the safty pilot course. Well when she was flying like driving the car she didn't get sick. To cut a long story short she now has here PPL, IMC and a few other odds and ends.

They now fly a Commander and she has flown over the Alps, if it wasn't for her my Dad would be a local flyer I'm sure.

Well this is indeed a good result, but I am afraid it is 'the exception thet proves the rule'.

My experience and that of my friends and all the chums I fly with, is that most women who decide they are not interested in 'something' very rarely change their mind. My wife tried flying in light aircraft, was not sick but just did not like it at all, and has not flown for 20 years. Nothing will get here into a light aircraft, not to come an watch me fly my model aircraft or helicopters. She has helped wash and polish it a couple of times though, and did hold things when I built it.

She would rather spend her time in the garden with her plants. I am not just a local flyer.... She misses out on trips to France, Netherlands, Belgium.... or she gets a big bird flight (and she does not really like this either) and we meet up at the other end.

And the conclusion is... not sure.

Have decided to build some flying into Valentines day so hopefully the romance of the day will ignite a passion for cranking the fuel pump into the Trex. I've booked her shooting and Mercedes World Racing for after so hopefully she won't complain (she's a bit of a fast car / shooting nutter ).

I think I'll just have to went and see if it happens naturally, would just be preferable as already we are starting to have my "heli-friends" and her "daft-friends" (my nomenclature not hers).

                Cheers, Chris.
