Al's Hobbies - AlsZone Torque Driver Set

I have one and it works but in practise I rely on my feel more often than not.
From memory the graduations arn't calibrated, just relative marks.

I've always gone for doing it by feel. Whereas I'm addicted to torque wrenches when working on motorcycles, I'm not sure that anything but 'feel' makes sense on these small screws.

That's why I was a little surprised to see a torque value quoted.

It's also worth pointing out (though many will know this) that specified tightening torques are dependant on whether the threads are clean, dry, etc.

Threadlock may well act as a lubricant when tightening. This will increase the clamping force (and hence the tensile force in the bolt) for a given torque.

Dirty or contaminated threads will have the reverse effect.

Having read this thread I decided to replace the Align tail grips on my 700LE for the QuickUK ones. On removal, I was really surprised to find just how much slop there was in the Align grips, yet the retaining bolts are tight.

I was disappointed to see that the QUK grips need spacers for the tail blades. Also, I had a set-screw left over - has anyone else had this, I can't see where its meant to go??

The Quick UK tail come's with 3 set screws, 2 short and 1 slightly longer.
The longer one sits in the recess on the 700 output shaft and a short one on the other side.

Not sure why they supply 2 short one's though, maybe for the 600

Many thank for that Matt. Shame they don't provide an instruction sheet.

They are buying millions of screws, by buying cheap crap, they are saving loads of money, its about quantity not quality, thats why there are 700 and 600 everywhere, they are cheap, to buy and maintain.

Sorry to drag this one up again guys as we have well and truly established that the bolts are crap but I just wanted to warn you guys using the plastic grips that they are no better.

Here's what happened to another guy at our club a few days ago.

Cost him a £291 repair bill.

Heli was a low usage and un crashed (non L.E)
