  • Another broken Align bolt

Was practising some Piro Tic-Tocs about 50 feet up and BOOM, the whole tail explodes, i managed to hit throttle hold and get the Heli down in one piece (don't ask me how, lol)

Anyway this is what I found

NB: This is a fairly new machine (3 gallons) and never been crashed or bumped and the tail grips were factory assembled

This is why my 700 is still in its box. Until align sort out the issues with their helis thats is where it will stay.

I have just built a 700. I took all of that apart and soaked it in brake cleaner. What I did notice was the 8mm bolts had their threads damaged. I screwed in a 10mm bolt and loads of crap came out of the housing/hub. After making sure all the crap was out I replaced the supplied bolts.

I have found that all of the bolts and most of the threaded parts are not clean. All the metal parts need a thorough clean before assembly. If any bolt backs out a little because the threadlock didn't hold it will probably snap, unless it falls out.
