  • Need some help with decision to px 450 for 500

    Chaps,

I have been looking at upgrading one of my 450's to a 500 for a little while now.

Heliguy have just started a part exchange programme, and I've just gone through the process with them and wondered if any of you guys could say if this is a good deal or not.....

My heli is an Align Trex 450 SEv2 (keeping some bits as spares for my other 450) and my offer to them is :

    -Complete assembled airframe
    -Complete sev2 head and tail
    -3 x 65MG’s
    -1 x 9650
    -1 x GY401 gyro
    -Align Sev2 ESC
    -Align 430 XL motor

    Not included:

    -Canopy
    -AR6100 rx
    -Carbon main rotor blades
    -HRPolyX lipo guard

I am looking for a new Align Trex 500 ESP superior Combo.

The offer that has come back is as follows:

£160 in px for the 450 against the 500 which costs £399. Shipping to and from would be free. This means I would need to shell out £239 - is it worth doing or would I be better to break up the 450 or try and sell it on?

I like the idea of just doing the "swap + dosh" as its simple and no hassle and I get warranty with a new bird (plus I already have the other bits required such as the tail servo, gyro, tx etc ready to go).

    Your comments would be welcome.

    Cheers,
    Simon

I would break it up and sell the bits separately. It's like any business they are in it to make a profit and the profit is in giving you a low price for your kit that they will then sell on at a higher price.

For example your gyro and servos are probably worth £100 on their own...

The company is just playing on the fact it's a quick hastle free deal.

At the end of the day if your happy to sell at that price and it gets you what you want then go ahead..

Does not sound like a good deal to me, but I rarely deal with them anyway. Sell the bits separately.

I agree -you'd get more moeny selling it yourself and then buying a TRex 500 outright. Just depends whether you can be bothered with the hassle of it.

Break it or, if you can't be bothered, sell the 450 on here. I reckon you'd get more than £160 for it.

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

I agree with the above. You may well be able to get more than £160 for your 450. Also, you can buy a 500ESP cheaper than the £399 that Heliguy are selling them for. AVA Hobbies have them for £373.87 here

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions, they are much appreciated.

The unanimous opinion is not to take this deal - so I'm going to look at the alternatives, especially as there are better deals to be had on a 500 (as per Bigbellypopper's last comment).

              Cheers,
              Simon
