Where will the RCHA insurance cover me to fly?
Next thing we know clubs will have sub none BMFA affiliated clubs just to ensure that RCHA members can fly on the same field.Cheers

Therefore Mike, unless you were happy to pay your full dues for two weeks membership, I'd bet they have held it for 2010.

So they have held the cheque over for 2010 membership, as on the form for renewal. But that still means that until the cheque is cashed, I WILL NOT BE COVERED in 2010. Implying I cannot fly at my Club. Unless there is an overlap of some form, which I doubt. What a potty system. This in theory happens every year then when it comes to renewals.Mike

Yes, but I don't know whether they have received it , until I ring on Monday am. It is still by 2010 standards a potty system when you think how easy it could be.Mike

If you are a new member at a bmfa club they can give you temporary membership according to their own fee so you do have insurance. So unless your club officials are ignorant of this, or against you - there is a way you can fly with insurance provided there right people are there.
The almost 2 weeks of insurance uncertainty created by the BMFA annual renewal happening right when everyone is off work really annoys me, as I'm always visiting relatives over xmas and it becomes a real obsticle to visiting a club at the other end of the country during the holiday. True I have a receipt from my club secretary that I have paid so thats fine for my home club, but is that really supposed to be good enough for a club at the other end of the country on jan 2nd?
The single renewal date is madness in this day and age. To have it occur when the office is closed, but we are all on holiday and wanting to fly, is absolutely crazy!www.heli-extreme.co.uk a good club in south Sheffield

Glad there is someone who sees my point and agrees with me!!!!!!!!!!
thought????
maybe it's because the plank flyers and slopers don't fly in the colder, snowy, icy winter weeks around Christmas/New Year so it is not a problem for them. But I guess I better not type this as it would show a degree of prejudice.Mike

FWIW i did not receive my membership renewal by post so phoned the BMFA on Tuesday 29th,they were working and i just quoted my BMFA No over the phone, confirmed my name and gave them my debit card details and was immediately covered for 2010.The call took 2 mins tops.
I did this as i wanted to fly this weekend so they were open between Xmas and new year.
In future i wont rely on the postal service i will just make the call again in early/mid December.Last edited by ChrisB; 02-01-2010, 04:53 PM.
