Whats the state of play with flying electrics of that sort in recreation parks etc
Im intending to Take my T Rex 600 to work with me and fly it in Poole, there are a couple of suitable parks as in the Phoenix sim which is based from there and i have looked at the local councils byelaws and it does not mention anything about flying model aircraft..#
I fly in a local park here. I have been bollocked a few times by the powers that be but pointed out that it wasn't listed on the board in the park car park and was told it is often not listed there but is actually contained within the full byelaws.
I then once pointed out it was complete bollocks that it wasn't on the board and what was he gonna do about the multitude of kite boarders also using part of park and that he was scared to hassle them as there were 4 or 5 of them and was then threatened with the Old Bill

Blade 130x, Park Zone Mini Sukhoi, EDF F16 thingy, some Gliders and some broken stuff
I have looked at the local councils byelaws and it does not mention anything about flying model aircraft..Does this mean its Ok to do so
If there are no byelaws in force, it means that the Council has no power to stop you from flying model aircraft on its open space. However that doesnt mean to say it's ok to do it. It depends on the individual circumstances of each location - mainly its size and its use by members of the public. In most cases parks/recreation grounds arent suitable places to fly.
There is a recreation ground 2 mins from my works depot in Southampton where it is permitted to fly model helis if they are electric so thats part of the problem solved..
I actually deliver around Poole and there is nothing in the local Byelaws,i have emailed the leisure department and asked there view so i will wait and see..
The main place i have in mind is Baiter Park which is by the sea and is used all the time by kite fliers and kite boarders,,#
Whatever the council come back and say i will go for it,just keep myself out of the way and keep an eye out so to speak,,
There is also some waste industrial land that is a bit more inaccessible but nobody goes there hardly so it will be a better option..
Either way i am looking at getting plenty of extra airtime
I will be running on Spektrum so i feel safer from that point of view
We've always got a spotter on hand for those idiots with no control of their dogs (saw one run off and attack a dog owner on the other side of the field a few days back) and for those that wander straight in front of you. Most people have common sense, but there are loads that don't.
Make sure that someone's on hand to point these things out to the flyer...
I still use mine but tend to go there mainly in the summer when I'm on my way home from work early morning even before the dog walkers arrive, these are actually the biggest problem even more so than kids and Parkies

Totally agree,i will use ample common sense, last thing i want is some biddy rapped around my blades
Baiter Park is massive and apart from the main summer period when there are holidaymakers everywhere, its quite easy to get a bit of clear air so to speak,,would only keep heli in close anyway,no big aeros etc, just building sticktime
what you might want to consider is that your insurance is valid. If you are flying somewhere that flying is not allowed or the byelaw states it is not allowed then an accident could leave you uninsured. At least that's how I understand it.
Yeah, Trev and I can be found there most days 12-1pm.
Lucky blighters, haven't you got jobs to go to? I might try and catch you next time I have some time off work. Come and see how it's supposed to be done lol!

Do you reckon that would be the case at the Farlington playing fields? That's where I do most of my flying at the moment, along with a couple of mates. Always keeping an eye out for dogs and footballers, etc...
